03 April 2010 - 02:37 PMApril is Autism Awareness Month. Do you have or know someone with autism? Autism is a developmental issue that primarily affects the ability to socialize and interact. Autism can take many forms, from the milder Asperger's Syndrome to the most severe (and the better-known) Low Functioning Autism. You may have or even know someone with autism and not know it, as Asperger's primarily manifests as social awkwardness and lack of eye contact. It can be difficult for an inexperienced observer to distinguish from ADHD and, in fact, is often misdiagnosed as such.
I personally have Asperger's Syndrome, and it is a constant challenge to me, particularly in face-to-face social situations. It is difficult for me to make introductions, and keep a conversation going if there is no specific topic. My lack of eye contact is sometimes misinterpreted as lack of interest. It is sometimes hard for me to judge how my words and actions will be perceived by others. Social situations are often stressful to me, even when I enjoy them, and I can only do so much before I "burn out" and stop interacting much except with people who directly address me. High noise levels just make this happen faster. To many people, I appear antisocial and odd, even though I have a few close friends who have bothered to get to know the real me. To these friends, I am fiercely loyal and protective.
I hope this has been enlightening an interesting to some of you, and I am glad to do my part to increase autism awareness.
17 March 2010 - 10:17 PMCertain members of forum staff have clearly had it in for me for a while, and have coordinated together to result in the debacle with the chatroom and general persecution of me and everyone else who associates with me. And when I tried to get answers, nobody even would bother to respond to my PMs. I hope you're happy. Goodbye. I'll be sure to tell everyone how this USED to be a good forum, until the moderating staff became lazy and corrupt. Seems Tenacious is the only one on current staff who gives a rat's, anyway.

Who else thinks it's going to have overheating problems? And who else is sorely disappointed that it's 98-based?

QuoteArab conned into marrying bearded lady
Gets a nasty shock when missus lifts the veil
A Dubai man whose fiancée kept her charms hidden under a niqab opted for a quick divorce after his first glimpse beneath the veil revealed she was cross-eyed and sported a beard.
According to Gulf News, the unnamed "ambassador" never saw his intended's face on the few times they met, but was convinced all was well since the bride's mother had shown his mum pictures of his wife-to-be.
In fact, the snaps were of the bride's sister, and when the marriage contract was signed and the groom asked his new wife for a kiss, the terrible truth was revealed. The man immediately cancelled the wedding bash and filed a suit alleging "he was tricked by his parents-in-law and incurred emotional and moral damage".
The subsequent Sharia court hearing annulled the marriage, but rejected the plaintiff's claim for 500,000 dirhams (£85k) which he said he'd spent on clothes, jewellery and gifts.
The court also referred the woman to a specialist when her temporary other half demanded she be examined for "hormonal deficiencies". The expert reported she didn't in fact have any such problem. ®
My only reaction: Bwahahahahahaha!!!!
