27 May 2010 - 07:16 AMhey fellas,
thought i would just drop in and say gday, give those that remember me a heads up about what im doing..... finally getting down to the business end of things down here in Australia, passed the last hurdle for my enlistment....the fitness test.....was so worried about it but ended up passing it without breaking a sweat!
heading off to New Zealand for a week tomorrow to see the Relatives, then heading down to sydney to see some mates before i head off on june 21 to Kapooka, outside Wagga Wagga ( no im not making these names up) to the school of soldiering aka basic training for 13 weeks!! gonna be heaps fun in the middle of winter!
So basically "Hi, I'm back but not really. I'm going to post this and abandon the thread not returning to the forum for a couple months then revive the long dead thread just for the hell of it"
Hi, glad to have you.

08 November 2009 - 01:51 AMjust had a flick through the topic and everyone says how hard it is to run on the road, trails etc, last year when i was so incredibly unfit i was the same so i started heading to the gym and running on the tred mill, i found i felt like i was gonna die after running for 5 mins, however there was no pain in my feet or legs as most modern tredmills these days have a cushion under the belt, so i set myself a goal of running for 5 mins comfortably then 10, then 15 and so on
what im trying to say is to set yourself mini goals with running when you start, dont jump into it thinking you are going to run a marathon without breaking a sweat, also break up your cardio between running and exercise bike, you will need to condition your body to the strenious exercise to run comfortably
i am now running lengthy distances comfortably and started doing interval training where you sprint for 30 seconds, rest for 30 seconds etc etc for 30 mins, i have no noticed that my running speed is slowly increasing and my stamina is building too.
recently i did the 10km bridge to brisbane in 56:42, my goal was to do it under an hour, next year my goal is to do it under 50 mins
08 November 2009 - 01:45 AMi still find it funny that everyone in the states calls is no shave november, we simplified it down here to MO-vember
