24 January 2013 - 10:42 PMIs it too much to ask to have a light weight, compact, magazine fed paintball gun?
With magazines that contain built in refillable air resevoirs that can be charged from a normal co2 or compressed air cylinder from a simple fitting.
The option of adding a folding or fully collapseable stock.
Folding and collapseable stocks that have mask wells that accomodate a paintball mask and make it possible to aim through sites.
At a reasonable price?
Because as of now the only magazine fed paintball markers that seem to exist are horribly oversized milsim monstrosities that way as much as a truck, are long enough to pole vault with and are lucky to be able to perform on par with a "normal" marker. OR pistols which are alright but probably a little short ranged and don't have a lot of options for customization.
The only magazines we have either have no onboard air, forcing either remote lines or hanging giant awkward cylinders from the marker (kind of self defeating as the magazine concept is supposed to remove awkward bulky things like hoppers and tanks in the first place), OR take 12 grams that you constantly have to buy up and throw out by the dozen, AND are all absurdly overpriced: even the most basic plastic box with a spring in it that holds paintballs costs nearly 50 bucks! For a plastic box with a spring in it! I'd pay 40-50 for something with built in refillable air, but for a box with a spring in it? No. Not okay. Conversation over.
And the only stocks that exist are all so single mindedly aimed at simulating a look that none of them actually accomodate an actual PAINTBALL MASK rendering them all more or less useless on a PAINTBALL GUN in a PAINTBALL GAME where one must wear a PAINTBALL MASK.
None of this is ok. None of it. Is ok.

This may not be the right place to say so, let me know if that's the case, but simulated ammunition is a million billion gazillion times better than paintball is or ever could be.
Massively more efficient, smoother operating, often lighter, more compact, more maneuverable, more effective, longer ranged more accurate weapons.
And it forever bums me out that we're not allowed to play with it.
03 December 2011 - 07:04 PMMy 98 is having problems.
Its a very old model maybe even 10 years old now, I'm not sure, it came to me used. It's modded with a Tacamo mag feed conversion kit. When I first got that the 98's sear assembly was an older version that wasn't even supported by the kit, so I had to get a new sear that would work with it. So the sear is brand new but still seems to have some trouble engaging the hammer. Every once in a while you'll get a two or three round burst out of it when the sear fails to engage through a couple of cycles. Also it's jamming fairly frequently. Couldn't say why, it's not chopping balls with the bolt so that's not it. I think maybe it's not getting enough pressure in the blowback to return the bolt. Also when it is firing the shots are dropping off bad, I don't have a chrono but it looks like it's shooting way too slow.
If anyone has any ideas what might be wrong with it, I'd appreciate some input, thanks!
23 August 2011 - 12:39 PMWell, here it is everybody. A word of warning it is long! I put 500 shots through the A5 kit and filmed every single one just so you can see for yourself wether it's firing reliably or not, rather than just hearing me say, "It fired 500 shots without jamming." and having to take my word on it. The downside is, it is f*cking boring to watch all those shots. So feel free to skip ahead. Aside from that I pointed out a number of issues with the kit including:
-The magazine's pressure detent is entirely too sensitive.
-The ball pusher in the magazine tends to jam in the ball detent after the magazine is expended causing problems during subsequent reloading of the magazine.
-The magazine release button is exceptionally poorly placed.
-The magazines do not eject even when the release is depressed. They have to be manually removed from the mag well, making for poor ergonomics and slower reloads.
-The magazine release has a tendency to jam and fail to lock inserted magazines.
-The system can not be effectively tac-loaded
All that considered, it's still fun to shoot and reloading in field is a DREAM. Hopper fed markers already feel like the dumb, muzzle loading musket/dinosaurs of paintball. But then again, to me, they always have.
Appearently YouTube took the liberty of reducing the video resolution for me, without notifying me. I guess because the video is so long. I still don't see why though since they claim to support a couple gigabytes and the video even at full resolution was only a mater of megabytes. None the less, horrible resolution, very long. Sorry about that. I'll make a chopped down version that doesn't include all the shooting and the MKV kit to get a better resolution video later. In the meantime any feed back would be appreciated and good luck with your kits!
18 August 2011 - 01:30 PMI've seen it posted several times now that these forums are dead. And I understand why, I kind of felt the same way for a while, there's just not as much traffic as there used to be.
Wait no... that's not it.
Over the last few days, I've noticed that everytime I'm online there are almost always at least 5 other registered users logged in and online too! But hours and hours and hours will pass, users will turn over several times, and there just won't be any f*cking posts! We'll start a lazy boring day with 15 users online, I'll check the active content... nothing. By lunchtime I'll come back, maybe 5 of the original users are STILL ONLINE, the other 10 have left, but 10 more showed up, we've still got about 15 people online. Wow, so I'll check the active content... no new posts? WTF? So I'll come back after I've had dinner. Maybe 1 of the people I saw here at breakfast is STILL ONLINE, 5 of the ones I saw on at lunch are STILL ONLINE, 9 have left, and 9 new people are online, we've STILL got about 15 people online! WOW! I better check the active content... MAYBE 1 new post?
Seriously people wtf are you doing? Everytime I'm online, I find at least on interesting thing and post on it. Everyone else just f-ing lurks allllll G*d damn day, and nobody says a f*cking thing! What is wrong with people? W(hy)TF are you here if you're not going to say anything??? Seriously... I am soooo bored of these forums being UNDEAD, either stf-u and start saying sh*t (you heard me), or gtf-o. and let the forum finally actually die.
