Topics I've Started
01 February 2010 - 11:29 PMSo this is really random, but I know there are a handful of creative types around here, so I thought I'd throw this out there and see what happens.
I attend a small Christian college, and they're looking at renaming the residence halls. A new apartment building is being built for next year and needs a name, so it seemed a good opportunity to rename other buildings as well (which currently have uncreative names such as North Hall and East Campus Apartments).
Ideally, we'd like to have some sort of theme going on. For example, some campuses go with trees (Elm, Willow, Oak, etc.) or whatever. Any "Christian themes" are obviously cool, but that's far from a necessity. There are two residence hall "neighborhoods" (as some campuses call them) which could possibly use names as well.
We have 7-8 buildings that could use names, but you don't need to have a whole set in mind or anything. If you have just overall theme ideas, single building names, neighborhood names, or whatever - post up! ANY idea that you might have could potentially help us out a lot!
Thanks in advance for your input.
08 November 2009 - 07:21 PMOK, so I have every intention of taking my car in to get looked at. But until I have time for that, I figured it couldn't hurt to ask for some help in here since I know we have some car guys on the SO forum.
I drive a 1997 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Z34 coupe with the 3.4 Liter V6. About a week ago I started it up, and it immediately starting making an awful banging noise, at a rate of 3 or 4 per second, accompanied by a minor-but-noticeable rocking of the car back and forth. My first reaction was that it was going to die on me, so I gave it just a little gas. This really had no effect. I waited a few more seconds to see if anything would happen, and noticed that both the "check engine" and "change oil soon" lights were on. Nothing really changed so I was about to shut it off, when the banging suddenly stopped. I waited a bit more, gave it a little gas and so on; it seemed to be running normally, and the "check engine" light had turned off. I decided to drive it (I was only going about five minutes away) and it ran completely normally. If it weren't for the "change oil soon" light still being on, I wouldn't have been able to tell anything had happened.
I took a peek under the hood, but I really don't know what I'm looking at. (There wasn't any blood or fur in the belts. ) The oil was changed less than 3000 miles ago, but I still haven't gotten around to pulling the dipstick and seeing if it's somehow low. I've driven it a few times since - it still runs perfectly fine, but the "change oil soon" light is still on. So I'm sort of at a loss.
Any help you can give me would be much appreciated!
14 April 2009 - 05:50 PMI'm just curious if anyone on here has bought anything from eCOST, and if so whether the experience was a good one or a bad one. I'm always skeptical of especially good deals. One of my friends got a 4GB flash drive for $10 and a 32" LCD TV for $250, but he may have gotten lucky.
So... any stories? Good or bad?
