27 February 2009 - 10:24 AMTired of the noisy vortex fans but need them in your mask then try this.
I have been doing this for about 6 months now and have found that not only is the fan quiet but the batteries last longer.
You can do this one of 2 ways
1st way is remove the fan from your mask and putting a drop or 2 of R/C electric motor bushing oil on the motor bushing behind the fan blade.(the oil comes in a bottle with a long metal aplication tip).
2nd way is again remove fan from mask find and mark motor shaft location on top of fan casing with a sharpie market, next dissassemble fan and using a small drill bit (big enough for application tip on bottle to fit in) drilla hole at marked location, reassemble fan, now you can oil both motor bushings for even quieter operation.
pics of where to place oil, in the one you can also see where I drilled the housing to get to the top bushing
Here is a link to one of the places I have gotten the oil from in the past(when I race R/C cars)http://www3.towerhob...RCH=bushing+oil
The motor will need to be reoiled every now and then.
I hope this helps anyone that uses the JT masks and vortex fans
Pics finally up I had problems with camera sorry it took so long to get them up
