Topics I've Started
09 February 2009 - 08:34 AMLast night I was surfing youtube. I found ALOT of clips of people using paintball equipment is some very unsafe, and illegal manners. Everything from shooting out of a window at the neighbors, to shooting siblings playing outside, to firing on pedestrians from a moving car. There were also alot of people getting lit up from very close range, although most of them at least had the common sense to wear a mask. I know there are tons of examples of these things, but there are some consequences that these people probably don't think about, and could impact us all. You may think these things are funny, but they are not at all, especially when we all lose our right to paintball gear.
In this day and age, politicians are looking for new laws to make to address that they see as problems in the public sector. Some of these laws are not based very strongly in reality, but become laws nonetheless. If a situation where a kid opens up on a neighbor when they step out of their house, and hits them in the eye, blinding or killing them, and the media gets ahold of it, what do you think could happen? It could get blown way out of proportion, paintballers could be seen as evil, militant people bent on the destruction of the population, and paintball could become illegal. Don't think it can happen? I am also an aquarist. A few years ago, northern snakeheads were discovered in a pond in Crofton, MD. Soon, it was illegal to have any snakeheads in possesion. The media played it up, reporting very erroneous facts, and the government responded. This same thing can very easily happen to paintball.
Next time you think about doing a prank like this, think first. If you injure somebody, you could very well be the person who dooms all the paintballers nationwide to lose their rights to play this wonderfull sport. Don't say, it wont happen this time, or it's all fun, or whatever, just don't do it, or you could have a million people across the country PERTURBED at YOU!
If you ever see people doing this, speak up. Paintball really is a privelage, not a right, and it can be revoked. So please, for the sake of us all, don't do anything stupid.
O.K. Off the soapbox I go.
Edit: I didn't know that (perturbed) was gonna get caught and changed by the filters, my bad. Didn't think it was a curse word actually. LOL!
20 January 2009 - 07:45 AMwell, lets try it.
You have a five man fire team, including yourself. They are a team that has worked together before. Your playing a walk on game, ten verses ten. The other five members of your side are all walk ons. They are people you've never played with before. They may be good, they may not. But they will not take orders from you. Or maybe they will. The point is, you can try, but they may be noobs and just run for the first piece of cover they can find and sit. The opfor is similarly unknown. They could have a good team, they could all be disorganized. The objective is elimination. The field layout is one main trail running more or less down the middle of a lightly wooded area, approximately 300 yrds by 100 yrds. There are some pallet bunkers located at random places along the trail. All other cover is natural, eg trees, some small brush areas. The equipment is just standard weekend warior sort of paintball gear, eg no 'nades. Just markers.
what would you command your group to do?
05 January 2009 - 12:38 PMHeres the situation. My girlfreinds son and I hunted up one of his freinds who had never played paintball, but wanted to try. We also got ahold of a young man, 16-17yrs old, who has played for awhile. I explained to the newbie what would happen, and the general safety guidelines. he played very well for a noob, and didn't break any safety rules. The other young man, upon arrival, climbed a tree at the outset of the very first game. I came around some cover, and got taken out by a clever ambush from the noob. I called "i'm out" loudly. The young man in the tree, about 25 feet away and 15 feet up, then proceeds to light me up. He shot me about 8 times. When I recovered from the shock, I saw him in the tree. I said, What are you doing in a tree?" He said "why not" I replied that it's against the safety rules that are accepted at almost every paintball field. He then proceeds to light me up again, so I shot back. Not a good reaction on my part, admittedly, it was a reaction. All said, he shot me about 12-15 times after I had called out. I walked of the field. he came down and said, I think somebody should explain the rules. I said that what he did was against general paintball safety rules, both in shooting from a tree and for intentional bonus balling, and that we wern't going to play with him anymore. I offered him a ride home, he said whatever, and walked off. I let him go.
I am correct in his violation of accepted safety protocol in paintball, am I not? I've cruised the forums for some time now, and I think I saw this come up once before, but am not certain. What would you all have done?
Again, I'm aware I shoudn't have shot back when he was in the tree, It was a reaction, and an admittedly bad one. So no flaming for that, mkay?
05 January 2009 - 09:00 AMMy girlfreinds son just got a used piranha srt from his cousin. It was free, and worked when he first got it. I showed Him how to field strip it, and clean it. Afterwords, it worked breifly, but now it won't come on very often, and when it does, it will not fire. I inspected the internals, found a leaking oring round the expansion chamber in front of the air hose, replaced it, but it still won't work. From what I can tell, it seems that the sear release solenoid is not working, as it will fire if you press the sear release slide. Any ideas as to what may be wrong? We did put a fresh battery in it.
25 November 2008 - 09:54 AMI've got a viewloader triton, and would like to get a better barrel for it, as the barrel is not ported or has a very good fit. My question is, what kind of threads does this marker have? Am I wasting my money? I was kind of thinking of getting an A5, but the triton is light, has a decent rate of fire (for me anyway's), I can snap shoot with it easier, and I already have it. I usually am a light rifleman on offense or a sniper on defense.
