My opinion, Ranger is a great gun, I have one myself (Even though I had a Defect Version, long explained story -_-), and If you do get it, I suggest the FLASC Upgrade with a 3" Addon, Double Fluted, and then put an APEx Tip on the end of it. That gives you an amazing Barrel system I would put my life on to bet it is accurate as hell.

but someone did give a good demo on how they did their snake skin paintjob on their tippy..... I want to do that.. gonna wait for my marpat vest first.. then try and get some colors close... and try and paint my marker setup....

Yeah, I know how you feel. I was really really weary when I first painted some parts on my A-5. I made sure, though, that I knew that I had the basic procedures covered.

Simple Guide to Painting a Marker:
    • First, disassemble the marker, remove ALL internals, and get some masking tape.
    • Tape all the screw holes, and any areas that you don't want to get hit with paint. (If your really trippy about accidental hitting the internals with some paint, you can tape it too, but you'll most likely have to re-lube it then.)
    • Then, buy some flat paint, made for going on the specific parts your painting your gun. (I used the $5 spray cans of Krylon Ultra-Flat Camo Paint. Works for most surfaces. There isn't suppose to be a reason to prime or anything with this paint.)
    • Spray onto the area you want to hit, and wait 15 minutes. TIP: If you want even paint spray, and no drip, it's easiest to just do painting in "strips." Go across the surface once horizontally or vertically in quick bursts, letting off the spray everytime you go back up, then come back down/over again.
    • If your just looking to paint plastics, such as grips, shrouds, stocks, feeders, hoppers, etc, it's really easy as well. Just follow any of the needed procedures above and its easy.

Stencils can help out as well if your looking to give your marker a digi or traditional camo look, or your feeling experimental with different pattern types. However, I'm not that far yet in my painting career so you should head to the Spec Ops painting forum.
