02 July 2009 - 06:33 AMFYI - I read that Skirmish does have some regs available on eBay with proceeds going to a couple charities. Just search for "Invasion of Normandy" and you'll find them.
21 May 2009 - 07:40 AMI didn't even notice the pattern until people started talking about it...I was wondering why there was a post for just some random camo...Not my cup of tea though..
06 January 2009 - 12:14 PMI appreciate the info guys. As you see, I joined up here in June of 2008 and right after I joined I was reading all the posts of DDay after it was over. So I know there's a lot of DDay vets on here and after reading those posts, I knew that I was something I need to experience. As time draws near, Im sure I'll be throwing up some "stupid" questions to help me out.
On a side note, it's amazing to see the polarity between the sides of German v. Allied on the forums sometimes. From my "neutral" perspective, a lot of the smack talk was all in jest amongst people who knew each other from multiple years of the DDay experience. Then there are some people who just took the game way too seriously who had to post things and just bring things down for everybody and it was done on both sides. Sure that happens, and sure it got out of control sometimes. I mean it is great to see the pride people have for their sides and units specifically, and Im not saying that Im not going to take the game seriously, but Im going to be there to have fun and meet 3999 other paintballers who love to play as much (or more) as I do. There were some great posts especially in the Tank/Anti-Tank forums between the tankers and the AT that showed much respect. Again, I have a lot to learn.
06 January 2009 - 10:18 AMI must say that I was shocked to see the DDay Forum taken down completely. This will be my first DDay, and I was getting all the inside info from the forums.
I loved the recruiting threads (there was more active recruiting on there than on here lately). I was on always reading on there before I made my decision as to which unit to join up. The unit, however, was the least of my concerns, because I know that whatever unit I joined, I would have a blast with. Seeing so many names from all the forums and the units they represent and how they talk about the game and the respect they have for the game and other units I know that this is going to be a heck of a good time.
I (as a DDay/large scenario virgin) was more concerned about the details of packing, camping, food, extra costs, gear setup (vests, camelback, HPA info, etc) and so on that there was a good section on the DDay forums that people would ask silly noobish questions and get polite answers. Now I don't have that.
Oh well though. I know that whatever unit I join up with will definitely give me all the info I need. I hope to see the DDay forums up soon.
