Topics I've Started

  1. Computer specs!

    06 December 2009 - 10:24 PM

Hey, I'm back! It's been forever since ive been on here, and i havent been able to go paintballing in a while. it sucks!
I really doubt anyone noticed i was gone, so i'll just get on with it.
after reading a certain computer-related topic thats recently been closed, i got wondering about other people's computer specs on here. im mostly interested in custom builds and high end computers, however, if you want you can post your pre-builds and mid range computers as well. heck! post your junkers and low-end computers just for laughs!

well, here's mine that i built about a month before school started:
AMD Phenom II 3.0ghz quad core
    4 gbs DDR3 1600mhz ram
1gb ATI radeon hd 4870 graphics card
1 tb sata hdd partitioned 4 ways with 100gbs that i havent used yet. oops..
    700w rocket fish psu
    asus mobo
    LG dvd drive
    CoolerMaster Storm case
    -red cold cathode lights :P

<edit>oh, and i have firefox, thunderbird, skype, steam, avast, gpodder, pidgin, objectdock, and rain maker all set to run on start up ;) i set it that way because i always have those open anyway. and it doesnt hurt my cpu usage one bit. im usually between 3-10% cpu usuage and 30-50% ram usage. im running Windows Vista x64 with no problems and dual booting with Ubuntu x64.</edit>

pics are attached, sorry for the bad quality, they were taken on my phone.
  2. My own job topic

    24 May 2009 - 05:55 PM

ive been trying to do free-lance web design/development. Ive fixed friends' virused computers. and i can build desktops.
i would really like to get a tech related job. i can also help set up, run, and tear down sound and light equipment.
im trying Geek Squad and any local computer store thats hiring. what other jobs should i look at?
  3. Not Another gun debate...

    16 May 2009 - 07:42 PM

Topic rule: This will NOT become another debate. we've all pretty much argued our points of view in other topics.

I got these facts in an an email. i would like to find actual sources for them. if you find a source, quote the fact and post the link; i will edit all the sources into the original post.

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. >From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

Date source: http://www.guncite.c...gcnazimyth.html (thanks Puz) the year 1938 is confirmed.

China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated

Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

    ---- ------------- -------------

Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million educated people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million.

It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own Government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The first year results are now in:

    List of 7 items:

Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent.

Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent.

Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!

In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!

While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.

There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort, and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns. The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it.

During WWII the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED!
