25 February 2010 - 09:28 PMHa, I'll kill the soldier thing right now... Marines are soldiers, sure, but don't go ahead and say soldiers can be Marines. i talked to some Marines at my pool function tonight, and they agree with that remark. Marines are just a class above the soldier. Squares are rectangles, but rectangles aren't squares.
At any rate, guess what guys, I'm joining the Marine Corps!
And thanks again for the congrats from people. Are there any others planning on joining the Marines in here?
There you go, your getting it.
What do you plan on being in the Marines? Are you wanting to do anything with Tech, or just pound the ground?

25 February 2010 - 02:35 PMMarines started out as small groups of "Soldiers" connected to certain ships to be a land based force that could leave ship.
Marines are not soldiers, Marines are Marines. Ask any Marine that, and they will tell you.
That poster that you posted is a very old one.
one of a class of soldiers serving on shipboard or in close association with a naval force; specifically : a member of the United States Marine Corps
Also the Poster is Old, the Marines are old, they have a long history, should they ignore that?
Sorry, my Father is a retired Marine (Once a Marine always a Marine) and even he admits "They're soldiers'
The Marine Corp does have a good reason to try and distance itself from the Army though, because at one point they almost got rid of the Marines deeming them unnecessary and too expensive.
Anyway, Marines=Soldiers, if they try and tell you anything else its the same as "Political Correctness".
No Disrespect to the Marine Corp, this is just a common mistake I see and feel the need to point it out.
