Posts I've Made
28 May 2008 - 07:11 AMOn behalf of all the Hellions, I would like to thank all of the teams and players--some of which drove from as far away as Oklahoma, Kansas and Michigan--to participate in the Red Storm Rising scenario. We are extremely grateful for the support, encouragement and contributions we received from the Green Devils and Team Fugazi as well as Dewayne Convirs and Bill Bailey. Of course, we also thank CPX Sports for giving us the field and making it very competitively priced. For a first time producing a scenario, I think it is fair to say that it was a tremendous success.
We have received a lot of positive feedback in regards to the straightforward time line with scheduled breaks and fluid battlefield environment with no bases to guard. The pilots, journalists and other costumed role-players were highly commended by many players as well. The Hellions were also quite pleased with the reception of "Das Grindhaus", the team's new tank that was debuted at Red Storm. More than a few even commented that the battle around the 'temple' was some of the fiercest ever seen at CPX.
Perhaps the most enjoyable highlight of the evening to everyone in attendance, apart from the tons of prizes handed out, was the awarding of the Tippmann X7 prize to Nathan, a first time player. Seeing his eyes light up and run to the stage reminded all of us why we play the game. His 'brief words' where he thanked all of those 'who guarded him' and the 'oh, crap!' tanks story were priceless.
We invite you to check out our Team Gallery and see some of the images of the game that have been submitted. We also encourage you to stop by our team forum, the Hellions Warzone, and let us know what you liked or disliked about the event. If we ever agree to produce another scenario, your feedback will help us ensure that it is the best possible event for all involved.
Again, on behalf of the entire team I would like to thank each and every player who braved the outrageous gas prices to come out and have a great day of slinging paint at CPX Sports. We look forward to playing with you in the near future.

Green Devils (Dropzone, XO)
Lapu Lapu Brigade
Sgt. Fury & Howling Commandos
29 April 2008 - 10:34 AMRED STORM IS ALMOST HERE:
Tired of the same old missions on the same old fields just repackaged under a new name?
The Hellions have done their best to come up with an event like no other before at CPX. It will be purely a "scenario" event with the players and their leadership completely dictating the tempo and flow of the event. The scenario, itself, will take place in three separate phases of 1.5 to 2 hours in length. Each phase will have it's own unique primary mission to accomplish. There will be secondary clandestine mission(s) as well that will not be completely known until the phase begins. The team also wanted to add something new for those players who frequently visit CPX Sports. The scenario will incorporate areas of the park that often go unused in other events. Phase I: "On the Brink" will be centered around the Wastelands field which, though widely popular with local players for open games, has not been used since the Mad Maxx event in 2006. All of the fields from Psycho Woods south will be in play including the old mountain bike area which will be supplemented with bunkers and barrels. Phase II: "Oil Rights" will take place in the heart of the park encompassing all of the fields from the Temple all the way north, including Hazzard on the left and Gnarley on the right. The entire area will be needed to achieve the objectives. Phase III: "Battle For Grozny" will incorportate Bedlam and Armageddon into the field in play during Phase II and move the action further south.
Fed up with being asked to guard the base while the rest of the players are out having fun?
There will be no bases at all to defend. No milk truck or rickety plywood forts that must be guarded. General kills are worth nothing unless by a limited number of Sniper special role players, and even then it's only worth 50 points in Phases II and III. That will encourage the command elements to be out on the field rallying the troops, not ducking and hiding to avoid losing a ridiculous 500 points.
Disappointed that you missed all the big shootouts while waiting in line at the air station?
There are two breaks scheduled into the game between the phases for players to get paint, air and grab something to eat or drink. That will allow everyone to spend more time on the field involved with the scenario, not hoping that they aren't going to miss a pivotal moment by grabbing a slice of pizza or bottle of water. There is nothing worse that stepping off the returning to the field and finding that your hard-earned lead was just lost because everyone needed to take a break at the same time.
Annoyed by the fact that the referee never seems to know what to do with a completed mission card?
The Hellions will be handling the bulk of the refereeing and gameplay mechanics. They will also be filling the non-player roles such as hostages and other positions that cannot be revealed at this time in addition to serving as the crew in our new tank, Das Grindhaus.

Hellions: Red Storm Rising will take place on May 17, 2008 at CPX Sports. Dewayne Convirs, owner of D-Day Adventure Park and founder of Oklahoma D-Day, the world's largest paintball event, will serve as the General for the U.S./NATO side. Bill Bailey, owner of Bailey's Battlefield and founder of the WWII Tour of Duty scenarios will be the General of Russian forces. Missions will follow the more fluid style of play that is popular at a few major scenarios down South but as yet not introduced to the Midwest. It will feature numerous non-player character roles, multiple insertion points, and concurrent mission objectives in line with a developing story. CPX Sports is a 143-acre, $6.5 million dollar paintball park located in the Chicago suburb of Joliet, Illinois. It is host to major Midwest scenarios by industry legends such as Wayne Dollack and Kerry "Viper" Rosenberry. The Hellions have put a lot of time and energy into coming up with something different for CPX Sports. They are certain that Red Storm Rising will be as new and original to those who attend every event that CPX offers as it will be for the first-time players. Many of the team's members have been playing for two decades or more, serving in all levels of leadership from mini-games to Oklahoma D-Day. The Hellions invite you to come out and experience the adventure. The cost is only $25 for entry and includes unlimited air fills. The event is pre-registration only, which closes on May 3rd. The event is sponsored by Tippmann Sports, PMI/RPS and Vents. Prizes include a Tippmann X-7 to be given to a lucky player during the awards ceremony. For additional details on missions, special roles, General bios, etc., visit the official Red Storm Rising Event Forum (http://www.hellions.net/redstorm) or CPX Sports (http://www.cpxsports.com).
And if that still isn't enough to grab your attention...
Generals Dewayne Convirs and Bill Bailey will square off with Tac-8's in the streets of Bedlam immediately following the final battle. The winner will not only earn bragging rights, but will also be awarded 100 points to add to their sides total. Just remember not to tell them about it yet!
23 April 2008 - 03:41 PM
The Hellions are proud to recognize the generous sponsors of Red Storm Rising. CPX Sports is the host and preeminent sponsor of the event. Tippmann Sports has generously donated a brand new X7 marker to be included in the prize giveaway. PMI/RPS is the official paint supplier of the event. RPS Premium will be the only paint allowed on the field. E'Vents by Vents is the official goggle system of Red Storm Rising. There may be additional sponsors related to CPX Sports that have not been included here. They will be acknowledged at the event.
10 March 2008 - 01:04 PMPre-registration forms are now available. CPX Sports has set the price as only $25 per person for pre-registration, which includes entry, unlimited air fill, event ID and mission cards. We are working to get a full-color event patch created as well. Paint will be $60 pre-paid cases of RPS premium grade. For those who have played at the 143-acre, $6.5M facility, it is the lowest price ever offered at CPX Sports for a major "Big Name Big Game" event. There are few names in the industry as big as Dewayne Convirs and Bill Bailey.
The Hellions will be fielding a tank for the event. We are working with a couple of other regional teams to bring armor as well. There will be tons of scenario extras such as paintball mortars, mines and smoke grenades and mission props. The missions are completely different from past CPX events. There are NO BASES for players to defend--or cower in. The scenario will feature concurrent mission objectives, multiple insertion points and numerous non-player character roles. There will be Snipers, Medics, Anti-Armor and Special Forces/Spetsnaz special mission roles as well.
Pre-registration deadline is May 3rd. Don't miss out! For more information on missions, roles, rules and general inquiries, check out the Hellions: Red Storm Rising event forum or visit http://www.hellions.net and http://www.cpxsports.net.
