Topics I've Started
01 July 2008 - 10:59 AMThis event, held at the HISTORIC Cousins Plattekill field (the site of the original NPPL tournaments, when the NPPL was woodsball!) is coming up July 26 - 27.
Become a part of history in the making as the SPPL NY Major Qualifier debuts here! We've got lots of media coverage lined up for this event, and Rich "PBJunkie" Struth and T.J. Allcot will both be on hand taking tons of pics. Paintball Sports is going to provide generous feature coverage, and I'll be working with TJ and Junkie to get stories and pics in other major paintball magazines, too. This is a great chance to get your team coverage!
Smart Corps & Voodoo will be there, along with other top teams from our area. Northeast players, you face each other in fun scenario games all year... come on out and show everyone you've got what it takes to play the intense woodsball action of the SPPL!
Plenty of hotels in the area, and GORGEOUS terrain on the field. Schloob somehow bent space and time to make it from JFK airport to Cousins Plattekill in 45 minutes flat, so it's not a bad drive for anyone from NY, NJ, Connecticut or PA.
Post here if you're coming, or still thinking about it and have questions, or want to go but are short a few players. We're here to help. It's been a long time coming, it's time for the Northeast to have our own SPPL Qualifier and we better make a good showing!
Breaking news from Schlooby, on his way back from Oregon. Five teams are already in for the NY Qualifier... let's MAX THIS ONE OUT, guys!! The Northeast has the largest concentration of scenario 'ballers anywhere... let's show 'em what we've got!
16 May 2008 - 01:08 PMI'm posting this in the RECON section too (mods, I hope that's okay) but I want to let all Northeast players who are coming to the Long Island Big Game this weekend to know RECON will be running special sales all weekend.
* Buy a 2 or 3-year subscription to RECON and get a FREE photo CD of pics from the 2007 Long Island Big Game!
* Save $2 off our latest issue... Issue 4:1 will be for sale for only $5.
* Bring me food (REALLY! A pregnant girl's gotta eat) and get an additional 10 percent off any RECON Subscription! (I get to determine if it's a fair trade).
08 March 2008 - 04:14 PMHi guys!
I am interested in pitching an article about paintball to a magazine based in Colorado. I'm looking for a serious team in Colorado (woodsball preferred, but speedball is fine), that:
* Is serious about the sport
* is made up of mostly players in their teens to late 30s, who are in decent to excellent shape
* preferably competes in the SPPL
* can speak knowledgeably about established fields and games in the Rocky Mountain region.
Because this is a health/sports/lifestyle magazine, I don't want a bunch of heavyset older guys who play paintball mainly to drink beer and hang out. (Hey, I'm not being insulting, I just described many of my closer friends! LOL) It would be best if the team actually practices and runs drills, etc., but if not, as long as most of the team members are in good shape, that's good enough for me.
A 'fact-finding' interview will take about 30 minutes and can take place through e-mail. If I get the assignment, I'll probably need some good photos of your team and about an hour of your time on the phone.
So if you want a chance to be featured in a local sports pub, PM me with a link to your team's website and some info on why you fit the criteria.
