08 September 2007 - 06:29 PMdepends really on your price range
low end of the scale theres the made in china stuff
nikon, Bushnell banner, tasco and some eastern block scopes
medium end theres stuff like Leupold's and the normal Bushnell stuff
and on the higher end theres all those western European scopes
jag06, i don't know why you had a bad experience with a Leupold, sometimes at gun shows alot of dust falls on the optics depending how they have set them out, but definitely a Leupold is a better scope.
but it all depends on your price range, i would highly recommend the Leupold scopes, their awesome and will out last your rifle, theres even a budget line for people who want a good quality scope but don't want to spend all that much
if your going cheaper id say the Bushnell Banner stuff, or some Eastern block scopes are pretty good too, their pretty strong and stand up to a beating, but not as good on quality as far as optics goes
a general rule of thumb is your scope should be worth half or more of what you paid for the rifle, (in AUS dollars). I bought a Ruger M77 hawkeye for $900, and bought a Leupold 2-7 for $450
what do you plan on doing with it?

those guys are legends, they run a TV show called "The Chasers War on Everything", type their name in you tube for some really funny stuff
they have a reputation for creative and really gusty stunts, which lands them in jail from time to time. Its funny though that the channel their on ABC is actually a government owned channel, yet pretty much all their pranks are directed towards the government.
I heard the only reason they actually stopped was from fear of getting shot by US security, so a block away from Bush's hotel they got one of their guys to walk out of the limo dressed as Osama Bin laden, then the police pounced on them.
The segment should be on their show on Tuesday next week, so it will be on you tube very soon after that.
