07 July 2013 - 03:51 PMHey Spec Ops forum!
I used to post here all the time about 6-7 years ago. I spent so much time on this site back then and learned so much..
I had to give up paintball after running into some money issues and pretty much stopped posting here. Earlier today I was going through some old stuff and found some old parts from my Smartparts Ion that I used to play with (lol). I immediately remembered this place and decided to log on to see how things were going.
And man oh man.. check out what I found:
A thread I made back in high school when I felt completely lost in life. It's amazing how quickly things change in just a few years. I'm so glad I logged on today just for that one thread.. what a throwback!
So.. does anyone still post here that was around back then? What ever happened to Where's George, the Brigade, and people "flaming" each other for stupid "FILTERED"?
I know some of you guys are still around.. I see Puzuma and Tenacious are still posting!
And wow.. this "dodgy" emoticon: oh the memories hahaha
16 July 2008 - 12:50 PMI know this should go into the motorcycle discussion thread, but you can't do polls in a post .
I've been noticing lately that there are people who absolutely hate sport bikes and swear to Harley Davidsons, and people who can't stand Harleys and wouldn't ride anything short of a supersport. So, post which one you like better and WHY. Don't post something like "Sport bikes are HAPPY SKIPPING JOYFUL PERSON, get a Harley!" or "Don't ride that obese piece of crap, get a sport bike!". I want to know why you like the one you choose better.
18 June 2008 - 06:29 PMI've been trying to figure out how to layer an image on top of another, then erase any part of the second layer that I don't want, revealing the first layer underneath it.
For example, I have an image of an empty roadway. I have a second image of a Yamaha R6 riding down a racetrack. I want to put the R6 on the racetrack.
I've tried layering the image of the R6 over the image ofthe roadway, but I can't figure out how to erase the rest of the image of the R6.
I've looked online for tutorials, but I'm not sure what to look for because I have no idea what you would call what I'm trying to do.
I would really appreciate some helpfrom any of you that use GIMP. Thanks in advance!
Note: I did a search and found a thread asking the same question, but the answwer wasn't given. He was told to use the fuzzy select tool; that's not the correct tool. I need to slap layer 2 on layer 1, then erase everything from layer 2 that I don't want, yet still show layer 1 underneath what I erased from layer 2.
10 May 2008 - 08:46 PMI just watched the movie The Mist, based on Stephen King's book (drceted by Frank Darabont).
The movie's great and all, but for those of you who have seen it, what are your opinions on the ending? I thought it was horrible, the whole idea of it. It had Stephen King written all over it, but damn that sucked. I mean, it was a good ending, but out of any movie I've ever seen that was probably the most negative resolution I've ever seen.
I love how, in a lot of works like this (especially King), one of the main threats to humanity is the people themselves. If you count only the people who were trapped in the store, they killed themselves more than the creatures in the mist did. If it wasn't for that stupid prophecy lady, maybe David and the others would have been able to keep everyone's head straight.
And the things in the fog were so cool. The pharmacy scene was crazy. Good movie, horrible ending.
12 February 2008 - 09:22 PMI have a question for anyone who is well past college and well into their career-pursuing lives.. how important was high school to you? Was it an important time of your life, something you will always remember and miss, or was it just another obstacle to get over to get through school and enter college and get out in the real world? Did you like high school? Was it an important time of your life where a lot of good things happened to you?
I ask this because lately, I've realised that I feel like I don't really have a direction in life right now, and that it seems like I'm just trying to get through high school and do as well as I can and get on with my life. I hate where I live right now, and I feel like it has nothing to offer me. I'm not saying I hate my life; I have a great family, a few good friends, and I'm actually doing very well academically (4.0 GPA), but I can't decide where I'm going, and this place has no direction for me at all.
So would you say it's a bad thing to not even bother to get involved with the school or the community at all, and instead just try to get it over with and leave? It's not like I don't have options; I can find a number of things to get involved in. I just don't see the purpose of it. After all, there's no doubt in my mind that I'm going out of state for college. I'm just having trouble finding a direction in life, getting my priorities together, and finding something I'm good at.
