Whats to be proud of for winning a cheated game?

a question i'd like to ask the team(s) and players that cheated.

we won despite the other team cheating, as they themselves admitted on stage after the game.

What about when you were pulled for wiping during the diner battle? Don't come in here and preach when you were caught cheating yourself.

since i wasn't pulled for wiping that isn't a problem. i was pulled for a friendly fire hit on my pack that i got while running into that bunker (clean on the front might i add). which i obviously wouldn't feel because i was carrying 4 pods ...

don't FRAGing accuse me of wiping.

Because you didn't try to rub the hit off your forearm when you ran to the bunker right? I was walking out and watched it happen, along with everyone else that was sitting there at the net. 2 refs ran over to pull you out, so I guess they saw something different?

yeah, they saw the hit i was pulled for, the one on my pack. notice the first ref to call me out was the one from behind me? how would he even know that i was hit on the front in the first place? when the refs came up to me i protested saying i wasn't hit, and i was informed by them that i was hit on the pack, first by the ref who came up behind me, then the other ref confirmed. as this was happening, i was taking heavy fire and paint was spraying everywhere, esp because of the crack in that bunker. i walked out, and spun my pack around to see the hit right on my 3rd pod.

judging by the fact they told me that where i was hit and why i was being pulled i would say that yes ... they saw something different then you did. they never said anything to me about wiping, judges punches, or even that i had done anything in error. they were calling me on a hit that i had not felt. perhaps you were confused by the amount of splatter during the 3-5 second event, and the subsequent hits i took while standing up to walk out?

again, why would you accuse me out of the blue for cheating? are you seriously that big of dick? im not even flaming you with that, its just a dick move to accuse someone of cheating on the internet without any evidence. paul from CPX was watching from the sidelines, said nothing. JDlarson has pics of my move, they show nothing, and they all had a MUCH better view then you could have. no one has said anything about this besides brimstone, who i frequently bull-crap around about stuff like this, putting his serious face on (if he has one) he'd tell you that its all a joke.

    [Offtopic]
    Scenario

I apologize, but I had a hard time reading your message to get the point.
    [/Offtopic]

But I'll completely agree with you. There's really only a couple ways to approach the scenario when one team is "bending the rules".

    1) Stop playing, find the ref and WHIIINNNNEEEE
    2) Cheat yourself
    3) Rise above it, pummel their ass into the ground with skill and coordination

Which route are you proud to say you've taken? I'm pretty damn there's only one answer that you want to bring forward when you're re-telling the story years down the road.

But PLEASE don't rant on about 'how much better your team was'. Sure you won, but poor sportsmanship isn't for the losing team only.

EDIT: I had no idea this topic was as active as it was. This post was directed at Cockerpunk who was the most recent poster when I clicked the "respond" button.

    guess what we did?

    number 3.

and yes, we have awesome stories, awesome videos and we had a damn good time doing it. i personally think that the final battle and the number of times TechPB staff and players were up there pushing sticks was one the most memorable times i have played paintball. i personally went up for 4 pushes, and each one was fun as hell, and hurt like hell.

as i said, we showed ourselves to be the better paintball players, in the end, that is more important then the score. yeah, they can pull some blatent cheating and questionable interpritations of the rules, and they can tote there "senario credientals" all they want, but in the end, it was our team that won, on our skills to shoot the other guys out faster and more effectivly. im ok with that. i told the punkworks squad after the final battle, before the scores were annouced, that i didn't care about the score, we showed our stuff, and we kicked ass.

the other irony mike, is viper's paranoia over techpb cheating becuase of our lack of experience, and then one of the teams that plays viper games regularly and should know the rule book inside out, pulls this BS, only to have us "noobs" call them on it.

yeah, we mopped the floor with the other team BOTH days, ALL DAY.

I seem to recall a 50yard line stalemate on the field for the whole time, and a score that was down to the wire the entire time...

But you say what you want.

    -Tenacious

we owned 2/3rds of the feild the frist day all day, and by the end were litterally spawn camping them. the only points the other team was getting was due to there cheating and doing missions behind our lines. that was our game plan from the begining, get to that choke point and hold it, keep the other team playing in the sun, keep the other team contained, do missions on the 2/3rds of the feild we hold. the second day we were on the virge of breaking out before our entire right flank was destroyed by "freindly" (meaning cheaters) fire.

make no mistake, we destroyed them. the cheating couldn't even stop the route.

next year I am going to register myself and my wife. Then when Leslie doesnt play I can just have her packet. That way I don't break any rules.....and hey its all fair right, I mean Im just like a spy. There are spys in real life so this shouldn't matter at all.

nah....cause that would take the fun out of....you know......playing paintball.

    bingo.

under the current rules as they were interprited by viper in this case - anyone can do anything. you can play for both teams, you can switch teams while playing, you can insert on both sides of the feild without consiquence. in fact, you can buy your own colored tagboard and cut out your own players cards, complete with numbers and formatting. so you don't even need to buy a second registration.

now, im ALL for spies and sneaky crap.

but there has to be a line. having only played 3 viper events, my interpritation of the rules was that the players card IS NOT a game prop, and using it to get tape is blatent cheating. this is to insure that while role playing, spies and such can get you tape, there is a "truth" below it all. you are in fact playing for one team or the other, not switching.

i personally love all the "welcome to senario paintball" talk. yeah, we mopped the floor with the other team BOTH days, ALL DAY. only through cheating were they even close to winning, and even with cheating they still lost. all the teams with "senario reputation" got spanked, and they knew it.

while we may not be the better "senario players" we showed ourselves to be the better paintball players. in the end, i'm ok with that. i came to play paintball.
