26 January 2008 - 11:02 AMIf you dont want to cause a ruckus and attract attention to yourself, DO NOT set off CO2 powered mines, as they will create a sound that will alert the other team. CO2 powered mines are slightly more expensive and are not usually considered expendable by the owner, so it will likely be set near an ambush or a CP to serve as a first string of attack and/or a warning device for the back door.
My team usually will tie a piece of marking ribbon or a string to the wire where it can be seen. We do not cut the string because we set up our own booby-traps with it already armed and set with a pressure released slip-knot on the back-side to make it go off if somebody cuts it, mark it, step over it, and continue.
26 January 2008 - 10:41 AMYou are never out because you run out of ammunition... BARREL TAG!!! it is a hard discipline to master, but it is a legitimate way for you to get outs.
People can tell when you are dry-firing ECO, it has a distinctly higher pitch than it does when you are firing live. If you train your ear for it you can hear it in the field and a quick commander will take up on an empty battery, even if it is only jammed for a second.
