24 April 2011 - 10:04 AMBunny rabbits laying eggs? The FRAG???
Anyway. Happy Easter.
24 December 2010 - 12:10 AMWell its Christmas Eve for you guys back in the States now. Its been Christmas Eve for about 10 hours here already.
So I hope your all feeling Christmas'y and whatnot. hope you have a great Christmas Weekend.
01 October 2010 - 11:18 PMSo Ive never been big on wearing sunglasses. I show up in the desert and... holy crap its bright. Plus due to some work requirements I gotta wear saftey glasses. I had some ESS Ice glasses... but they sucked. So I had my family from home go to usstandardissue.com and buy me some Oakleys glasses with lenses that are my perscription and regular lenses. Then those glasses became "Unauthorized". While they always had been, it just started getting enforced. So I went out and bought myself a pair of Oakleys that were.
So now I own 2 pair of Oaks. I have SI Half Jackets with perscription lenses and standard. There the ones tailored to the military that dont say Oakley across the bridge of the nose, and have more subdued Os.
And I have Ballistic M frame 2.0s.
Both lenses meet the requirements for lenses put out by work, but the Half Jacket frame doesnt meet the requirements. Anyway I love my oaks. There the best sunglasses Ive ever had. They come with a price to match... but who else has Oakleys (any kind) that they love? I know im probably going to be wearing sunglasses when I get home because these sunglasses are some of the most comfortable ones Ive ever had. So whos got oaks, what ones, and throw in a pic if you have any.
05 August 2010 - 11:08 AMI feel like my entire life is on pause. Im stuck doing something thats pointless that I have no control over. Far away from everything I love and hold dear. While at home everyone moves on with life. They go out with friends. They argue over the color of siding for the house. They bitch about picking up clothes from the floor. and about rumors and stupid drama.
Right now it would make me so happy to be able to argue about the color of siding, or bitch about dirty laundry, or get caught up in some petty argument. Itd make me so happy I'd cry. Im missing so much. Ive been with my girl a year tomorrow. A year. What the FRAG am I doing with my life in some craphole country wasting my time? what kind of valor, or courage is this? The only fight here is the one against my own mind and the thoughts that run rampid. Ive only been here since the beginning of june, and Ive had the scare of a child at home while Im not there, the scare of losing my fiancee over stupid things, not speaking to my parents. and having a brother that resents me. What is so noble and so great about being here, away from everything I love? What does this sacrifice of a year of my life gain anyone? What good comes of it? Am I helping some hodji FRAG somehow? Even if I am why should I care? Ive mapped out how my whole life could play out. like 4 different ways. Im to young to have this much bull crap in my head.
I just miss home I guess. I dont know... I dont know. I gotta get some rest in alittle bit. Im hoping someone gets on skype. Im on pause while everything else continues. I dont get a choice, and I dont know how to think act of feel about it.
12 June 2010 - 01:41 PMHey, Greetings from kuwait. Im headed out to Iraq in the next week... And my brithdays next week too. I hit one year with the girl in august. Im pretty excited about that. Im getting married when I come home, then heading off to college. So thats something to look forward to. Plus the bundle of cash from this deployment.
Oh wait... in case you forgot Im cor_man257. Im in the national guard as an MP and Im deploying. I hung out in the old chat alot, and in Ivory tusks chat, and even back in the BoB chat. Im a pump player with a PgP and Im an outlaw baller. I love the game. Actually... if they let me keep it my combat shirt may become a jersey and that molle vest could work for a... nah Ill get a vertical 4 from nXe and an autoloader... err... what was I saying?
Im going to be in a place that supposably internet, so Im using my MagicJack to talk to people back home, that and skype, and phone cards. Its not so bad. I dont talk to them everyday but I still get to talk. Everythings been going really good. My Fiancee moved in with my folks while Im gone because they want to take care of her and she doesnt really want to be at our house by herself. Everything has been going really good.
Here comes the part where I break Op Sec. Well... not really. Im gonna be training Iraqi Police while Im in country but my understanding is that most of the police stations have been getting built up for quite some time now, so theres not alot to do. But Weve gotten some pretty high speed stuff to do the job. We got these highspeed vests called the IOTV. they can just fall off if you pull a cord. Pretty neat. And we have our ACOGs now instead of reddots. Plus were rololing in MRAPs instead of humvees. If you military you should know what all that stuff is. Its pretty FRAGing cool. Im gonna be in the turrst rockin on the 240B. Hooah. But I guess its mostly downtime here. All the real crap happens in afganistan. So we dont have alot to worry about. But my unit is defintly going to be a hard target. They really keep us covered down on stuff. They make sure that our stuff is tight and everyone is serious and prep. not your typical National Guard Slackers. These MPs know there crap. all the people at out MOB site said we were the best company to come through in years and the people here in kuwait seem to think were gonna be pretty well off in country. Were attaching to the 82nd Airborn. Thats going to be my combat patch. Pretty sick.
Itll be pretty easy days here as long as I can get my hands on a guitar, and some P90X. Eh... maybe I'll just hit the gym up instead. But all my free time is going to be working out, playing guitar, or surfing the web talking to home. I actually just finished Magic Jacking the folks at home. It uses internet to make phone calls. Its a pretty good way to comunicate with home as long as you have a good internet connection. So I dont know. Hopefully its as good as they say it is where Im going. I'll do my besst to throw something in here everynow and again.
HOLY crap ITS HOT. The first day I was here it hit 125F in the shade. Thats some serious heat. Adjusting to the new time, sleep cycle, and heat is incredible. Its a real challenge all on its own. I cant really sleep right. Right now its 11:30pm here and Im in a starbucks on wifi. lol... yeah here in kuwait its nice. BK, Tacobell, Subway, Baskin Robins, a steakhouse, tons. but well see how it gets in Iraq. Talk to you guys when I get a chance.
