  1. In Topic: Who remembers...

    I remember when:

    - paintball was booming.
    - only really expensive markers were electronic.
    - playing pump was fun, but a didn't brag about it.
    - the Brigade actually worked.
    - pbreview was second only to PBNation.
    - BE.org existed
    - Spyder markers were actually quality
    - there were more people entering the sport than leaving it

    Shall I go on?

And why is the Brigade not working THIS time?? I realize I've been out of the loop for a year...but can SOMEONE pleasantly surprise me just ONCE!

And i always tell myself....take the kill/death stats and put them in a spreadsheet because the brigade is always a fart sideways away from non-existence....but noooo....I had to be lazy.

As for getting smoked on the speedball field due to gun choice...invalid point. I can hold my own using a pump in speedball. And i know of many tourny players who can do the same.

    Absolutely impossible.

Think about it, if a pump gave you an advantage on a speedball field...why on God's green Earth would ANYONE choose to use electro markers??? Why? They break easier, are super expensive, go through more paint...so WHY??

The bottom line is...if you have a pump and I have an electro....and it's just you and me left on an air ball field...you're DONE...give up. Because I can start firing at a very low-moderate rate at your position as I simply walk towards it. You would have to make a 1 in a 100 shot between my string of paintlballs OR hope that my gun jams...you'd be SMOKED. You know this...and your only argument is....on a field of noobs...you might still win because noobs don't know how to play. That's the equivalent of saying, "I play basketball really good and could hold my own wearing dress shoes....if I'm playing against 3rd graders..."

Sorry Charlie....it's not called "Pumpball"...it's called "Speedball"...ROF rules those fields...despite killing paintball in general in the process, etc, etc, etc....
  3. In Topic: Where do you test fire your marker??

As a college student at Ohio State, I used to live in an house with some of my buddies. I used to test stuff in the basement. Now being in an apartment, things have gotten a little more challenging. I now test fire my markers by covering the breach and shooting into my couch cushions. Otherwise, I drive out to a secluded spot alittle off campus and shoot a hopper to make sure everything is working. As always, I am careful not leave traces; i make sure I shoot into the ground.

I used to do that as well. There was an ice arena nearby and I would drive around to the back and fire off into these woods. But no I'm in Cali, and there aren't really any "secluded" areas around. I'd have to drive pretty far or up into the mountains or something. And the last thing I need is a cop rushing to the scene because someone reported a person "firing a gun"..that'll get me shot dead REAL quick.

The past couple days I had to empty a tank that had a faulty reg on it....I fired it off into some foam mattress stuff...still loud though. I even tried a rolled up sleeping bag, and that wasn't too bad.

I do have rebels that I can use to test hoppers and such indoors...fire them into pillows and such. But the chrono I have won't work indoors, needs a great deal of light. So to actually chrono, I'll need to find another solution. Some place I can go during the day to test fire. I could try to call the closest field and see if they'll let me just go to their chrono area for a little bit to test fire....or I could just pay the $30 field fee...but it'll have to be a BYOP field because I ain't paying a field fee PLUS buying a case of paint just to test my markers.

And be careful with reballs. I now have a pillow with holes in it...
