Why couldn't you simply hot glue (or somehow attach) some tan material over your existing oem condom?

Anyways, sorry for venting...
How is SC village, always wanted to play there.

Eh, no problem. I'm as big a safety nut as you and understand the basis of your concerns.

I've been playing exclusively at this field since I started, so I have no basis for comparison. A lot of people are always slamming SC for its dirty bathrooms :panzer: and old ball littered fields. I personally don't mind either and I love the multiple scenario fields. The refs are pretty strict with safety, especially masks. There's this one guy who's my hero; he's been nicknamed the Mask Nazi because he kicks you from the game if you even adjust your mask on the field. My only problem are the 15 min rounds. :aah: and the fact that a rather graphic movie was filmed on my favorite field, Bosnia. PM me if your curiosity gets the better of you.

As for the hot glue, I've never had any success gluing anything to my marker,or gear, on account of my down-and-dirty style of play.

agreed with legato, you really should have a condom that is bright and stands out for better safety. i mean you cant play paintball with the barrel covered up so its not like it will give you away, it wont be anywhere on your gun plus its much easyer to visiably tell its there

i have often almost yelled at newbies in staging area to put there condom on only to find out it was on it just matched so well you couldnt tell

though if you must insist on a tan condom why not just pick up a can of spraypaint?

trust me im not trying to flame you im just saying i dont think its a good idea. i wouldnt even trust someone who makes bags at dye to come home with all the right supplys and decide to make cheap knockoffs to sell on the underground paintball black market.

its not a madder of thinking your going to do a lousey job infact i think you will do an awesome job i just dont think its a good idea considering the high safety that revolves around such things

Maybe you should, but then again a black barrel condom comes standard with most marker purchases. Also a barrel condom is a tertiary safety precaution; the first being no air/paint, and the second safety on/finger off the trigger. A newbie without their barrel condom on should be the least of your worries, especially when they're pointing a condition one marker at an unsafe direction with their finger on the trigger.

I'll be running my setup with a 3.5oz. You'll notice that my air source is in close proximity with my barrel; at the beginning of the game I can transfer my barrel condom from the barrel to the canister , as opposed to stuffing it into my pocket and risk losing it during play (it's happened). I guess my motives are a bit difficult to understand without having played at my field.

I've always wondered about spray painting Cordura, but I have this uneasy feeling of the spray paint eating/weakening the fiber's integrity.

i believe that you can get dyes that do not weaken fabric, look at the craft section at wal-mart for Rit dye

How big around is the 3.5 oz tank? This might work: https://www.palmer-pursuit.com/ecom/product...products_id/399?

Measure your tank and then email or call Palmers asking them. If it is designed to fit on double barreled guns and PGPs, I'm sure it's pretty wide. You could then go with the spray paint option.

Or, try Black Leaf Outfitters: http://www.blackleafoutfitters.com/
It's owned by shartley, a member on the underground mod shop forum, www.undergroundmodshop.com. He has made barrel condoms in the past, he might be able to make you a custom one.

You can't really dye something that's water resistant and black, especially with Rit.

I'm planning to use 1000D Cordura, it's what's used to make vests and most of our gear, perhaps even standard barrel condoms. Honestly, I don't believe that most barrel condoms go through any rigourous testing standards. Despite this assumption, I will put mine through harsh testing conditions to include 24hr water/sunlight immersion, 3-rnd burst at max fps, and shipping through DHL. :(

I honestly don't know what the big fuss is, especially since there a many of you constructing pnuematic pipe bombs, aka LAWs. Maybe it's because I was responsible enough to put it through the Safety sub-forum instead of making it and posting it on the Mod forum.

Thanks for looking for some alternatives Jackson, but due to recent bad transactions with certain sites I have become somewhat wary of purchasing any items online. In addition, I'm done donating to the burgeoning pb mod industry. I'm getting out the military in less than a year and going back to college, I need to save as much money as possible without having to leave the sport.

I made my own barrel condom.
I made it out of heavy boot leather. I folded it over and riveted the sides down. And I took some thin bungee cord and made a loop for it. It is as safe if not safer than a chincy cordura sock and since I was able to draw designs into the leather I think it looks pretty nice. I will have to get a pic up on here.

I just looked at my barrel cover ( tippmann flatline one ). There is nothing special about how its sewn together. No extra hems or a anything. Arent some barrel condoms made out of neoprene? The tip is the important part, if you double up on some canvas or something you'll be ok. I don't see how a gelatin capsule will bust through. Just make sure to test it out when you're done to make sure.

If I can pull that off with a REAL barrel condom and my 1337 sewing skills :dodgey: then you ought to have the ability to do the same with tan cloth.
