Does the field where you regularly work, pay any sort of premium for any kind of certification? The field I work at pays a dollar an hour more if you pass their in-house written test (tested on rules and regulations, and field policies and prices). Also they pay a dollar an hour more for CPR certification. I'm curious about the practices of other fields and whether or not this is a unique policy. Does you field encourage you to go to some kind of referee clinic? If so, do they pay for it? Do they pay a wage premium if you go to one? I would ask that you not mention the name of the field at which you work, but please state the region. I work in the Great Lakes region of the midwest.

If you do not get paid for refereeing, whether by sponsorship agreement, et cetera, then this obviously does not apply to you - so please feel free to not respond.

My field pays £40 a day for regular marshalls, but the more you learn, the higher your rate of pay, up to a maximum of £55 a day (Approx 110 US$) They also pay more if you're the chef or Gun-Techie, and I oh so love fixing borked Inferno's

Bag of paint, free entry and such, and food when theres parties. The field literally just opened up so he cant afford to actually pay us, otherwise I would be buying out NPS.

Free fills for the day when I decide to play (If I do), or just a voucher to get a couple free fills another day. Food is given, some paint, and the all around satisfaction of knowing I made good calls all day long..

Not a whole lot really, so I just do it just for the experience and some days I just don't feel like lugging my gear around to play a game or two. Oh, very seldom but occasionally like 10$ a game..but when the game lasts for close to 2 hours... it doesnt pay much.. I enjoy it, benefits or non... just the experience of doing it.

I'd love working as a ref. my local indoor field need some one day so me and my firend helped out. pretty fun stuff, and instead of getting paid we each got 1000 rounds of draxxus paint and a 3 pod pack with pods. I had fun, and i think id be pretty sick to get paid to ref. thats a good idea with the dollar more for poeple with cpr certifications.

People get paid to ref? :aah: j/k

i help out at my local field when they get swamped, usually just reffing a few rounds of rentals vs. rentals up at the speed ball court. They'll throw me free pizza since by the time they need a hand i've already bought my all-day air pass.

That's what I was saying.

In theory we get free field fee and air or something like that. I am on a field sponsored scenario team so we are required to ref. We get like half off field fee and air and then so much off paint and merchandise. I dont know how much, because I ref more then I play. Regular refs get like free field fee and air one day for like every day you ref, I think. I was a ref for a year before getting on the team, so you would think I would know. But as I was always reffing, I hardly ever played. When I did, they didnt charge me for field fee. I do know I reffed way more then I played.

I dont know. I didnt start reffing to get free play or anything. They needed help reffing the big games. I like the field and everyone up there so I volunteered to help out. It was just a side bennefit that if I got it, okay and if not I didnt care one way or another.

Our head ref gets paid, but I dont know how much. I have needed to know, so I never asked.
