Very cool idea! I would definitely use it should Spec Ops decide to go for it! In the meanwhile, I think I'll whip out the ol' RPG Maker and try to map out the last field I played! (I'll be playing on it again in a couple weeks so it would be awesome if I could plan some strategies AND have some classic fun while doing it!)

The video game "Renegade Paintball" has a field editor. The game has two main styles of fields, woodsball and speedball. You can basically build your own field using that. The game sells for about $20.

any updates on this? C9H13NO3 said that he was going to work on it on his free time.

I think C9H13NO3's idea is prob the best so far.
On the left you have a menu (a la Outlook style, where the categories slide up/down). On the right side you have your map editor. Within the categories on the left you can find the object you want and drag it over the editor. Once there you can manipulate that object. Then you would have the option to print and/or save.

Some of the comments involved having AI, practice skirmishes and other stuff. I think those things will just make this idea a lot harder to accomplish. Best thing is to start of simple and then add to it.

As for the program to create it with, it would need something dynamic that might have to include Ajax. Don't know if Coldfusion can do it.

It would be a very interesting project.

It needs to include the ability to load your current field into it from google earth... that would rock.

If you programmed it in flash, you could add a simulator mode to test new tactics.
