Hey, heres the new concept to think about. If you're playing Commander, and you deploy a sniper team, and direct them to shoot, you are really shooting them from several hundred yards out! Well, indirectly, but you are! :)

Hehe, good one. Then I might believe the 60-70 yd shots. Okay people, for those who think that they can make those shots or that those shots are their average. Go to a football field and measure it out -- stand at one end and have somebody go out to the 60 and 70 yd line. You guys are one reason that snipers get a bad name.

no kidding, 50yds accuratly and consistantly still seems a bit of a reach. but for you guys that say 70 yards is just rediculas, I like to draw them in close, 10 to 20yds

Again -- go to a football field and try shooting from one end to the other. Now tell me you didn't put that marker at 45 degrees and couldn't even accurately put a shot in the inzone. Seriously M.I.C. Do it.

20 meters is about 20 yards... give or take

but seriously, after 50yds.... you're starting to play the wind at those ranges, it's just not practical to be shooting farther than 75yds

I have tagged people at around the 50-yard range but I don't do that often. It's gotta be a pretty well set up shot for that to work - like seeing their foot sticking out - and it takes a couple of shots to get it. They can't hear me from that range so I've got time to take more than one shot.

Mostly though, 15-25 yards would be optimal range. At that distance, if I see a barrel sticking out, I can usually paint it on the first shot and, depending on what else is going on around me, they won't know where they've been tagged from.

as close as humanly possible, less room for error. worried about a squad? they'll never expect someone that close.

You guys have to realize 1 yard = 3 ft. For those of you saying you can always hit someone at 50 yards, well, thats at least 150 feet. Thats about the effective range of a paintball marker. Its hard to hit stuff at 100ft. At 150 unless you lobbed the ball at a rediculous angle, is almost impossible, ESPECIALLY to do consistantly.

I shoot at people 30-50 feet away. If you're within 50, you're toast. I will not shoot anyone that I think to be 60+ feet away. I know they will have a hard time hitting me, and I would not want to let them know where I am.

Anyone who tries to get someone at those distances is wasting paint and not playing effectively, end of story.

A paintball will not travel 70 yards, thats over 200 feet, which is hard to reach even with a flat line shooting at a high angle.

who here thinks this guys a noob? sorry, but paintball snipers dont take long shots. its not possible. if you hit anyone from more than 40 yards, you just made a lucky shot. paintball snipers are mostly used for intel/ recon, not for rediculously long shots.

Eh. Maybe I am a l33t n00b then. I must get a lot of lucky shots. I can be ball over ball at 60'... I am still within a foot diamter scatter kneeling down from 120'. That's still one shot one kill on someone half in the open.

I do shoot most kills from about 60', but I do long-ball quite effectively, I need to get Compressed Air prior to starting more longballing. You do have a much higher chance of hitting in close, (how about three quick ball over balls on hand from 40' in game). Sometimes I just get tired of hearing how 'you cannot snipe from far away'. :o Aim carefully, get an accurate barrel, max the fps to the limit you play with, use heavy premium paint, get an accurate gun (VM-68 Magnum anyone?) and you can shoot accurately at 120'. Heck, I've sniped at 200' before, one on the arm, one on the head.

A paintball will travel 70 yards I have had a friend at my house and he hit our ram in the head from about 70 and yes he arched it about 20 degrees but that is part of the skill of it. In his case however it was pure accident my dad told him to shoot the ram for fun so my friend shot once and nailed him.
