I think at some point all refs will feel un-appreciated. Thats just part of our job. We are out there not for the glory of the winning shot, flag pull, or anything. We are out there to get our butts into the thick of things to make fair calls. We are out there to make the game safe and fun for everyone, young and old.

If nothing else, give props to other refs on the field for doing good jobs.

Keep your chins up though boys! Reffing is a way of life!
Sometimes to love something is to let it go
But sometimes letting go is to lose the unattainable

Just remember: If someone's returning to the field, it's probably because they had a good time. Guess who's partially responsible for that?

Keep up the good work.

I realy hadnt thought of it that way. you make a good point. I must admit though, like some of you said, regardless of how i may or may not get treated i love reffing i dont think that simple complaining would ever get me to stop.
The reason i wrote the origional post was the last game i reffed there was this one guy who must have complained at least a dozen times, none of which were justified complaints. I t actualy got to the point that it was starting to REALY annoy me and i am not an easy person to piss off. I just wanted to vent and see if it was as common as i hoped it wasnt.

Any other refs feel like they are not appreciated sometimes? I mean when you do a good job pple just seem to ignore you but when you make a bad call (real or imagined) you never hear the end of the comments or the argument. Very rarely do you get a comment about how you reffed well or how pple enjoy the way you run games. Am i the only one or do other of you guys deal with the same thing?

Thats life man.

Exactly. Some of you are talking about how the players attitudes are and how much they whine, yet you post how under-appreciated you are. Sure no one realizes the work we do, but if you don't like it, quit.
