The term "Cold Burning" and "Hot Burning" smoke refers to the way the grenade is initiated. "Cold Burning" grenades or canisters use a pull pin and "Hot Burning" grenade or canister use a fuse which use a foreign heat source to be initiated. Both produce heat and most if not all "Hot burning" grenades or canisters are outlawed at fields. I use a website for both the Fire Service and Paintball. The website is www.sportsmoke.com.
