yesterday some speedballer asked me how much my gun was... i told him i payed about $400 total for everything you see...

he started laughing and said he paid 300 for his and it shoots faster then mine...

so i laughed back and told him to enjoy paying for money for more paint...

couple hours later im walking back from air'n up my HPA tank and hes sitting on a bench and asked me if i wanted to play some speedball..

i asked how much does he have for a game? he said 3. i laughed and said id rather stay in the woods with 39 OTHER guys and gals

stupid people amaze me...

edit

later in the day him and his buddies joined in on our woodsball fun.. once it started raining they walked off and were like OMG I CANT GET MY GUN WET..

someone else on our team beat me to it... and shouted.. HEY SPEEDBALLER! WHY DONT YOU BUY A CRAPPY GUN LIKE MINE THAT WAY YOU CAN STAY OUT IN THE RAIN!!!

I guess he was talking smack to other people as well.. but i could not help but laugh to see them running back to the parking lot..

Can i ask what makes this guy stupid? Just for liking his paintball game faster paced, and more exciting?

I keep looking for where the kid was blatantly stupid, and the only thing that pops up is him running off because of some rain- Really, honestly, a little rain isn't going to hurt most electros (In all honesty, the only thing I wouldn't want to do is submerge the marker completely in liquid...). that said, even up here, I draw the line in some rain, just because I don't think it's particularly fun to have everything the can fogup fog on me, my rounds turn to leather 20 feet downrange, and my accuracy be totally shot all to peices. *some* people think it's fun (and more power to them) but I don't. I've caught hell from more than a few woodsballers for not wanting to play in the monsoon season, and that's their right, even if I am a better player. Of course, these are the same people that make jokes about me shooting a spacegun and get mad when I make jokes about them having 8lbs of useless junk bolted onto a tippmann, but I digress.

and I'll be blunt- you can't put more than maybe, maybe 20 bodies on a speedball field and expect to have much fun. Personally, I enjoy 7 man, so 14 players, but then again, I'm a bit behind the times, since most people play xball format and that's 5 bodies per team on field. Of course, I also started playing at a field that could draw upwards of 200 players on a weekend during the summer, so 20 on 20 seems a bit small to me for a woodsball game. but if that's what you like, I mean, that's cool. No problem with small woodsball games, a lot of poeople think they're more fun.

We danced among the lightning bolts,

thanks Tyger.

remember: practice and theory are 2 different things and E does not equal MC2

go get your own SIM-4 and try it.

Seriously?

I mean, really?

That's the defense? "physics has no bearing on my equipment"?

Hmm...

So the... lemme think here... 20 years of practical playing experience, the hours and hours of time spent on target ranges, the thousands of dollars spent on paint I shot at nothing but hanging targets, the fact that I've shot damn near every gun on the market at one point or another.... All of that is basically garbage because your "Sim-4" can break the laws of practical physics and shoot a ball further at the same velocity.

Wow.

Call NASA, they need to use that gun's technology for massdrivers.

Believe what you want to believe. If you want to believe that an A-5 can't shoot 100 FEET without arcing shots, you go right on ahead. You want to believe that porting somehow makes a ball fly further at a standard exit velocity, sure why not. Heck if you want to believe that yetis built your paintgun and gave it magical properties to raise the dead and lets you talk to hamsters, go for it.

You know tho, this does remind me of an old story. There used to be a gun back in the day called an "Icon-Z". It used CO2. Players would chrony the gun in at 275 FPS, and all was good. On the field, they would seriously longball ROPES of paint. I mean they were out-ranging people by a good 50 feet, which is unholy distance. See, what these players knew, and wouldn't tell people sometimes, is that it ran on liquid CO2. So in the chrony line, it'd shoot 275 with no liquid in the line. Once you started shooting it, and the liquid would get into the siphon tube, it'd jack up the velocity by a good 30-50 FPS. It was a fantastic illusion. But not all Icon-Z players did this. In fact, Mike Hanse ("Blue") told me that his team used Icons, and would walk on the field at 220 FPS knowing that their play speed was going to be around 275 once the liquid got into the gun.

Brilliant.

300 fps is 300 fps... whether it's a paintball, plane, bird, or leaf. If at point "A" (the end of a basic, non-backspin barrel) that paintball is traveling at 300 fps, it will end up the same distance away regardless of what was happening just inches before point "A".

At this point, I'm going to just start making fun of them.

The air tank will hurt more than a stock... Just saying.

In reality, why would you "melee" someone in paintball? This isn't Halo.

I've loved the last few pages and especially the bit about comparing a bunch of different markers to a Sim-4. I found that funny because my buddy shoots a Sim-4 and I have yet to see it go an entire day without something on it breaking and he is a millwright so it isn't like he is mechanically retarded it is just that the Sim-4 is a piece of complete crap. In fact I bought an extra Automag for him to use just so he didn't have to keep using a rental after the first game. Maybe the Sim-4 does have magical range that defies the very laws of physics but I still think they are just overpriced pieces of trash and I would sooner quit paintball than be caught on the field with one.
