I had a guy in the middle of a fight cleaning out a jammed barrel... He ended up shooting him self in the face. I called him as being shot.

I have always wondered this question...

Why do people have that urge to shoot at the bright orange or black and white ref jersey? Is there something that I am not seeing, other than the player shooting at me?

Because, as we all know, speedballers are color blind. Thats why they can where bright flashy jerseys! :) j/k

I was thinking about cheater's camoflauge... Where a jersey with splotches of blue, yellow, orange, pink, and white. It would make it harder for the refs to I'm surprised they don't have these yet, but thankfully they don't!

I ref at a old factory that was converted to a paintball field( close quarters at its best) wearing that bright red and yellow jersey and kneeling behind a 3 foot round yellow sheild must have not been enough to identify me as a ref for a 20 year old newb. he shot once hitting the sheild which i ignored, close quarters it being the norm. 2 min later a birage blasted the wall i was kneeling next to (note no other opponants where even near me let alone behind me. As I stood i was greated with a ball directly in the goggles. he yelled your out get out etc then another ball met me in the side. He then yelled ref check him to which i could only simply reply i am the ref!!!!!!!. My number one pet peeve on the field is a dm5 in the hands of a newb no matter what his age!!!!!!!

Additional note when we have big groups during the safety briefing we remind them that for the final game they will be playing the reffing staff!!!!

my story:

My team mates were playing another team sponsored by the same place as we. I was reffing with some other guys. I was watching my teams players hard see cheating. One guy from my team says check Can, I run over there I check him he's clean, he yells secounds later his hopper is hit!. I check it he hides the hit side on the bunker, I tell him to show me other side of hopper, he says "why?" I run over there check him and then see the hit, show him and he goes, oh that hit... I then did a 1-1 for playing on but are team still one, shows them

I was reffing at a local Rec field (Out of paint and with only two games left in the day, didn't feel like buying any more). During a game, a kid calls for a paint check. His bunker is getting peppered by two guys with really fast guns (and this kids got a fully stock Model 98 <_<). So I put my shield (dish network dish with some padding over it) up and run in. I'm checking between his pods for the hit, so it's taking longer than normal and one of the guys makes a run to bunker the kid (again, what a jerk...).

However, instead of hitting the kid, he puts about a dozen shots into my back. Luckily/Ironically, I had just called the kid clean and this kid has the mind to shoot the guy who just shot me. And he shot him about a dozen times in the back :D Then, being the jerk that this guy was, he goes to shoot the kid again because he thought he was 'playing on'. Luckily got my shield up in time for it to take most of the hits.

The head Ref/field owner told the guy to leave, and not come back for a month.
My job is to be an asshole. I excel at the position.

One of the days I was reffing happend to be a slow one. (Which usually meant a saturday). It was with walk-ons and renters, no teams as they wouldn't get any of the deals. (Sunday is team day...friday night play is el-cheapo).

Anyhow, we get this decent size group out on the Xball field. Me, my friend and 1 other ref are reffing the game. On the break, one of the kids immediatly hides behind the starting net...............<_< We told him he can't hide there...next game he does the same thing. He continues that for a while untill we finally call him out after he hides behind it.

my worst reffing incedent came in a speed ball game. i was a few feet from a unoccupied bunker and was watching a guy try to make his way to it. i had paint checked him and my presence was known, so he finally gets in the bunker and goes into hide mode (he hid behind it not moving for several minutes) i quit paying attention to him and was surveying other action when this guy pops up and shoots me point blank (like 3ft away) behind the ear and ducks back behind cover!

i was so hot i relieved him of his marker and escorted him to the parking lot (gave it back to him at his car). he swore he thought i was in play even though i had on a blaze orange ref uniform and had paint checked him and had been walking around him the entire game. i told him that his attention span was so short that he was a danger to the other players and he needed to take up tennis or something.

accidents happen and getting hit while reffing is part of the job, but i dont have much tolerance for idiots.

LMAO Thats awsome!!!! ( not getting shot in the back of the head part but the rest is funny) OMG I may have to remember to use that when I ref again in the near future
If you can't hack it, then I suggest you pack it!
I'm on it like white on rice, with a glass of milk in a snow storm.
Doesn't matter what gun you have, as long as you can hit what you're looking at.

We were playing and some guy starts shooting at me the ref says game over and walk in front of me and gets pelted. He starts yelling at him and the older ref tell him to calm down.

One time a kid playing against me yelled, "out of paint". We all thought he walked off so my buddy runs to take that bunker when the guy who is *out of paint* pops out of his bunker and marks him about 5 times. The Ref didnt see any of it either.

Thats actually legal.

Well, the overshooting part of it might not be, but the other player calling out of paint normally is legal.
