I have to tell you that Tippmanns are not the most efficient. I have an A-5 and get at the most 650 shots out of at 20oz co2 tank. Everyone else that I know with a Tippmann has similiar problems, kinda frustrating huh?

Stock Tippmanns generally have terrible air efficiency. However, there are many things that you can buy/do that will make it tons better. So, it isn't really that frustrating, just something that can be taken care of with some work.

20oz co2 tanks can yeild 1000+ shots and there are two reason why you would only be getting 450-500.

1. youre shooting your Marker way too fast

2. your tanks were not properly filled

1. Not true, adjusting speed on a Tippmann does NOT change how much CO2 or air you use. The screw adds turbulence to decrease efficiency, CO2 used stays the same.

That's a really good find. Now we can figure out how many shots we have because tanks barely ever get filled all the way and the only info I've found so far is how many shots on a full tank.

By my calcs, at 25 shots per 12-gram, an ounce of CO2 is worth approximately 5.906 cubic inches of HPA at 3000 PSI, or 3.9373 cubic inches on a 4500 PSI tank. So if you're trying to relate CO2 to HPA, that's a good comparison. To equal a 9 ounce CO2 tank, you will need approximately a 53.154 CI 3000 PSI tank, or a 35.44 CI tank at 4500 PSI. For a 16 ounce tank, you'd need about a 63/4500 tank or a 94/3000 tank. So if you want to compare, a 68/4500 tank is reasonably close to a 16 ounce CO2 tank, particularly since HPA tanks are typically slightly underfilled.

Of course, mileage will vary. CO2 typically gives less performance than what it's rated for simply because it is a highly volatile gas. As you shoot, both temperature and pressure fluctuate, and this can cause some guns (particularly autococking designs) to not work properly. By the time you're down to 1 ounce of CO2 in the tank, you're going to be shooting horribly, whereas with an HPA tank you will have solid performance right up until you hit your marker's cutoff point. HPA also won't freeze up, so you can shoot as fast as you can pull the trigger.

Now, I know these calcs aren't exact, by any means. However, they ARE a solid rule of thumb. A 16 ounce tank can give between about 800 and 1200 shots, by simple math using the existing numbers (multiply the 9 ounce values by 16/9). Go dead center on that, and it turns into about 1000, which match up nicely with my calcs at 25 shots per 12-gram, which are dead center between 20 and 30.

These numbers have passed a couple different validation means for comparison. They're overall very correct. You can use this to determine what HPA tank size compares to a CO2 tank. That way you can know how much gas you'll need to run your marker after you make the switch.

This really helped me out for finding a good recreation tank, With Fills Readily Available.I was thinking of a 68/4500 for my A-5 in the mail. I think ill save a hundred bucks for other gear and go with a 62/3000 or 72/3000.
