I asked this same question in the other APEX review thread but it has gone un-answered: Can you still put barrel shrouds on barrels with the APEX tip on it ( that big black thing that does all the work). I was wanting to get a Stiffi barrel and put the APEX end on it and then put an MP5 shroud on it. Is it going to be possible with the APEX?

Also a second question. If I mod it ( the APEX) to use a Stiffi barrel instead of the stock barrel it came with, how easy would it be to remove it again, is it able to be swapped out in the field or is it one of those at home projects where your stuck with it for the day ( or atleast until you get back to the rest area).

I'd be in great thanks for some answers.

I am planning on buying an Apex barrel
There is just one mod that I think everyone should do:
Use some electrical tape to cover up the porting.
My friend has done this and noticed two things:
Slightly higher noise signature and 20+ more range.

I'm defenetly getting an Apex for my Ion!

98% of people on this forum will say that Tippmann pwns all. If you are one of the 2% that disagrees put this in your sig.

So is it fairly easy to clean quickly? After you're done for the day do you have to give it some kind of special thourough cleaning?

I also have an Apex and I agree that it's amazing. The accuracy and the the distance is amazing. Good review. Great barrel.

Because of all the little spots in the front of the barrel you kind of need to use water to clean completly. I've only ever broken 2 balls in a game with this barrel so don't worry.

the apex on an ion is way too sick, in a way it should be illegal...lol expecially when the ion has a black heart and ramps up to 20 bps

Apex huh...you can get a kit to put the APEX on a J&J barrel. Slap that Apex on a 14inch barrel.....sweet!!! I really gut to use mine for the first time this weekend.....WOW!!! What a barrel...I love the dive bomb feature...I used that alot to rain paint on people!!!! For a shroud you can get the Lapco barrel shrouds.

I have a 98c for the apex. I'm quiter then my friends with the A-5. Also the best paint I have used was midnight for about $13 a bag it's great. Just dont use old paint that would work perfectly for other barrels, the paint needs to be fresh from the store. I cost my team a game with the worst accuracy I have ever seen with old paint. DONT GET IT WET your accuracy will blow.

yes buy the apex it is worth the money, though the last game i played in the rain and the apex failed me but this was the first time and i was using old paint, all in all the apex was the best choice imade on upgrading my gun.

I've been avoiding the Apex threads cause my A-5 flatline is only a month or two old and I don't want to drop a bunch of money on a similar barrel.

Maybe next year.
