Oh, one more question.

I know that the 68/4500 number on a tank means 68 cubic inches of air/4500 pounds per square inch. I assume that the PSI is the pressure at which the 68 cubic inches of gas are stored, but I'm still kind of confused. Could you guys explain to me exactly what the 68/4500 number means?

68 is the number of cubic inches of the tank. This is how much air the tank will hold. The higher the number the more shots you will get off of it. 70 and 45 are other common numbers.

The 4500 is the pressure in psi of the air inside the tank. 4500 is the max that the tank can be filled to. 3000 is the only other common number, but there are some 5000 psi tanks.

More pressure = more shots til it drops below usable pressures for the marker.

For a tippmann the old rule was take the size of the tank, CU/CI, and multiply it by 10 for 3000 PSI, 15 for 4500 PSI, and 20 for 5000 PSI. That would give you the shot count for the tank.

So a 68/3000 would net you 68 x 10 = 680 shots
a 68/4500 would net you 68 x 15 = 1020 shots.

So the key is to find balance for you. A small enough tank that you can rock it with comfort but still get plenty of shots. Sure you could buy a 92/4500 and get over 1300 shots, but it is hard to rock on the marker cause it's so big and clumsy. Remote is the easier way. For on marker a 70 ci is as big as i'd go. Smaller like a 45 or 50 if you have short arms. Try some out at a store and get an idea of how long you want the tank to be, what size fits the best. Then if you can afford it and your local fields and shops fill it, get a 4500 psi tank.
