Great info fellas. I also like that my mask(Proto Axis) is first on the list. I just bought it after incurring a massive welt on the temple whilst wearing a Scott mask. Thank you for making this aspect of the game a bit easier to figure out.

Just wondering if anyone here has a JT Axiom FX-10 mask, I just bought one and so far im pretty pleased using it for woodsball, but i need some info on the interior lens (it has 2 lenses but the 2nd is glued on with a layer of foam between). Just wondering how the heck I can clean it, and if I am supposed to use fogwipes or something. The instructions that came with it are useless.

I just got a profiler but the lens are dirty. I can't get my hands on a Can of Plexus lens cleaner either. I don't have alchohol to clean my lens either. Does anybody know a subsitution for Plexus lens cleaner?

Don't forget the JT Spectra Proshield. It's one of the best masks you can get for your money. It goes for $25-$35, and has a true thermal lens and excellent ventilation. It also comes in olive drab, which matches most camo. It can accept a goggle fan for extreme fogging situations (and it takes a LOT to make this mask fog). For the money, it works like a much more expensive mask. It won't get you many bounces, but I've still had a number of shots bounce off. The only real fault I can find is the ear foam, which does not always protect your eartips from the plastic. However, it would not take much to get some extra foam and glue it in.

If you are buying low end, particularly from JT, one mask style you really ought to avoid are X-Ray derivatives. These masks are hot, not exactly comfortable, fog horribly, and give you a poor field of vision. The original PMI X-Ray was discontinued years ago, but variations are still produced by a couple of companies, primarily JT who produced the original. As a good rule of thumb, if it has an Elite lens, pass it up.

Uh, consider changing it when you say V-force vantage has no foam. If a mask had no foam, no one would buy it. And yes I have one and they have foam.

When I wrote that, the Vantage was either not out yet or was recently released. In most of the previews I read, they stated that it would be released with rubber instead of foam. From what I understood, it was designed to be a low maintenance rental / beginner mask. The rubber was advertized becuase, unlike foam lined masks, it is advisable to clean them by just running them under a hose.

As I stated in the post, I did not have experience with some of the masks I posted. I'll change it now.

EDIT: Nevermind, I clearly state in my description that "These masks come with foam that is supposedly very comfortable."

EDIT AGAIN: Sorry. I found the error you saw. It was elsewhere. It's fixed now.

Awesome reviews, guys. I'm now even more happy with the fact that I just ordered a Proto Switch FS last night. I probably will eventually replace the lenses in my Pro Flex 7 as a backup, but the quick-change lens is drawing me, especially since it also does have a dp lens.

One thing to note: I have been using the JT Flex 7 for about three years, now. I can fit my glasses (sunglasses, but hey) underneath with no problem. A few times I took my mask off, then went to look for my shades, only to realize they were still on my face.

One thing I would reccomend adding is a section on full headshield masks. The only 2 I know of are the JT Spectra Flex 8 full headshield and the JT Elite full head, but I assume there are others. I think many parents may buy these for their children that play paintball because of the assumed risk in a headshot.

I have the Flex 8 headshield, and it works pretty well.

GREAT POST! I personnally love the V-Force line because they have the best in anti-fog. Nothing comes close, just try breathing inside different lenses & you can see.

Second, I LOVE AMBER/YELLOW lenses. They make everything look crystal clear and they take the edge off the sun when it's in my face and brightens up the darkest forest. They're great all the time. If you haven't tried Amber/Yellow lenses out yet, you've just got to!

I would, but I have absolutely no experience with headshield type masks. I've tried one on once and I didn't like it. If someone wants to write up something about them, PM the text to me and I'll update the post. I will debate points that I do not agree with and will (with the submitter's permission) edit some parts that sound unrealistic or "fanboi"-ish. Just look at PBReview to see what I mean by "fanboi"-ish reviews.
