I recieved my MP5SD shroud (long version) today. Overall I am very pleased. I was able to transform my gun from its previous PDW config to the MP5SD shroud config in a matter of minutes.

Pros:
-Looks very much like the real thing.
-Fit and finish is good.
-Plastic seems pretty durable.
-SpecOps gives the option of a new position for the front sight.

Cons:
-The two smallest screws don't seem to fit all the way in. I can still gently pull the barrel apart even though the screws are in. I may not have the screws fully tightened, but I am afriad to force them.
-I would have prefered that the SD shroud use the same size hex screw (where possible) as the stock Tippmann gun.

All in all, I am very pleased with this product. Am I the first person here to have a SD shroud?

What kind (and length) of barrel do have inside there? I see it's not poking out the end at all. Hurm, assuming this covers at least some of the porting on your barrel, if you have a barrel break might suck to clean out (have to take the halves apart to clean out?

Mine won't arrive until after the weekend....

The mod looks good. I don't know if you are the very first owner to have the mod installed, but you are certianly among the first.

As far as the small screws go, go ahead and tighten them down. What is happening is the screw is getting to the end of the insert molded in the plastic, and there is a cavity behind the insert that may have some plastic residue between the insert and the cavity. We have felt some resistance in a few of the kits that we have assembled here, and had no problems with cranking the screw thru the plastic up to 3 full turns past the resistance point. As always, if you should incur a problem with any of our signature mods, there is a lifetime warranty against manufacturer defects. PM me or post again and let me know how it went.

Just got mine! *dances around*
I'll second most of Lightsped's comments. Very nice, looks like it "belongs" to the marker. Although I would have prefered the hex's matched what's used by default on the A-5, at least they are all the same hex head. The two front screw's are too small for the default sized hex wrench.

The bottom front "lip" sticking through is a tad bothersome when holding it, I might dremel that off.
Also, there is a slot in the bottom where you could in theory reattach the front hand grip, but you would need a longer screw and I'm not sure it would look quite proper with the whole mp5-sd look.

A+

I'll see if I can't get some pics of up of overhead and cyclone side (with and without cyclone) this weekend.

Yes, I know what happened at OpsZOne. I am currently dealing with their Administration on this issue. I also saw where you I think made a new topic and it got deleted too.

Anyways, I think a 12 inch will poke out alittle. I think the ideal length would be 10 inch barrel. I am using a 7 incher and it works fine.

This is my only other pic of the MP5SD shroud.

I wasn't aware of the lifetime warranty you offer. But yeah, I rotated the small screws on the end of the barrel alittle tighter and the whole component looks much better fitting in reference to where the two halfs come together.

Yeah, the sliding style stocks are nice, but I really want an air-through stock, so going with the solid-stock air through kit when it comes back in stock *shrug*.

One other thought about this kit, you'll need to remove it to get to the cyclone bolt. Granted, you'll probably only need to do that after the day of play is over, or if you're removing the shroud to put on the flatline, or to clean a barrel break. What I really want to know is how well it shoots with a barrel that doesn't stick out the end. It looks like the end of my 14" freak sits rather close to the bottom of the opening on the end of the shroud. Pics sometime today *chuckle*

Kinda off topic but does your mag have a palmers stabilizer in it? Now if you get the a-5 a2 stock you will have a complete mp5 sd...that would rock.

Yeah, that's my plan, the mp-mag and solid stock. Not sure if I'll do the palmers in mag or not for now. I'd probably end up having to sell my current palmers male to afford the extra for a in-mag in-line reg, heh.
