Thanks for the praise guys, I really appreciate it. I am going to be working on this quite a bit more once i advance my sniper skills a little bit more though. I don't have what it takes to get into the advanced tactics or anything yet, so I am going to get some more field time.

I have gotten a lot better though. Yesterday when I played I got 3 kills and no deaths, and I only really got into a sticky situation once, where somebody actually hid from me....lol. I was shocked by that one. Anyways, I just gotta get a little more time out there and then I will get the ball rolling again.

A lot of you probably think I have been playing a while, but I really haven't been. I won't tell you the exact timeline because you will laugh. Not long at any rate. That is why I wanted to thank Ghostinthewood for being so helpful with all of my questions and keeping me going in the right directions. Thank you a lot! I think there are a lot of great people in the sniper HQ so I feel honored to be able to help out in whatever way I can. Feel Free to PM me with any questions you may have, I am more then willing to hang out or just share a little bit of knowledge.

Im somewhat of a new sniper. Im not really a normal sniper either, cuz most snipers hide with very good camo, but instead I wear dark cloths and hide up in trees. Not trees with boxes or somewhat of a defense. I like the idea because noone ever looks in the trees so i can easily pcik them off from a longe range. The only problem with being a "tree sniper" as i call myself is that when you do get found you have no chance to escape or manuevor away from the opposing team member. Should i cahne my tactics?

I agree there, trees are for monkeys. Not only are you easily boxed in and taken out, but you could be seriously injured. Plus, a lot of fields (most) do not allow tree climbing. Too many people are injured doing such things. While I trust in your climbing ability, I think you should start doing some stalking on the ground. That will give you the opportunity to bust out some other cool tactics as well.

Thank you for an excelent post. I also am also one of the many noobs attempting the position of sniper and have found several very helpful tips. Unfortunately due to the few people I play with, and small size of our feild, I find myself playing the position of sabre more often than not. I guess the best way to figure out if your a sniper or not is to get out there and play. If you dont have fun then whats the point. Personally I am a more reserved player who enjoys hiding and using evasive tactics to surprise the enemy. The ultimate satisfaction that I get from playing the sniper position is seeing the surprise on the enemies faces when they have just been eliminated and have no clue where from. ;)

Very glad that I could help.

Actually, I have the same situation as you. Where I play sometimes we have very few people to play, and I find myself playing more of a sabre position then sniper. That stinks at times, but I have learned how to get past it.

Think of it this way. If you really like to play sniper, and have built a set of sniper skills up, then you can still consider yourself as playing sniper no matter what. The sniper has lots of different methods of play, and you can get in the thick of things and still be a sniper. As long as you are trying to take accurate shots or use your hiding abilities to gain an advantage, you are playing sniper.

Marksmen is a sniper tactic, yet it isn't the most "sniperly" way to play. It is still a snipers method of play though. I would consider you a sniper no matter what the situation is if you let your sniper abilities rub off on your other playing styles.

Feel good in knowing you are accomplishing a major step in your play by being a "sabre" at times. Adaptability[i]. Nice to know there is a new sniper lurking about the forums Bl@ck Mamba. Have a good time in your sniping endeavors.

Great thread, my fireteam has 2 current snipers, me and my buddy. We lock down every aspect of the sniper, we ambush together, we flank together, we set up for one another. we've began to work so well together, and be so efficient as well as effective, our team leaders wont allow us to play on the same team any longer. so starting this march when we begin to play again, it will be nice to see which of us is the better sniper, i sense a great sniper war, a war of silence, stalking, and anticipating in the near future. It will be great lol.!!! RAWR

Very good piece of work.
Once again Femur Breaker pulls off the impossible...... To create a theroly useful sniper guide for beginners (like me).

I have to admit I am a beginner in the relm of snipers. I have dabbled with it off and on some.

Running out with guns blazing is pointless. Like when you hunt deer do you run out with a shot gun and pump as much lead into the buck as possible? No. you do it with skill

great report man I plan on doing more stealthyness then long shots this weekend see how I do...hehe ill see if i can find a real team to get on to (the kind of team that is actually a team) and try not to get stuck with just a bunch of violent people wanting to get some rage off and getting eliminated instantly because they think they are good hehe (I hate those people) :P anyways great job it has been very interesting and helpful :D

P.S. dalongbowwilson your thing that says "I swear that bush is holding a gun" thats usually me
