So you say you've got a thread that is REALLY the best? You started it all yourself and it's the k3wl3st thing evah!?!? And you even only have 60 "!" after your first sentence?!?!? And you way that it's SOOOO important it needs to be stickied?!?!?

Here's how you fail to get it stickied :

Using the following terms in the topic title or description : "STICKY THIS!" or "PIN THIS!"
Use the following in the body of your topic : "This really needs to be stickied!" or "MODS (ADMINZ) STICKY THIS!!!"
Post any of the following under your post : "BUMP!" "TOP!" or "SUM-1 ANSR! WE need 2 STKY!!!!"

The people that moderate and administrate this forum are, in fact, human beings. We have intelligence (contrary to popular belief), and if we see a thread that is insightful, informative, and is something that we think everyone should read when they come to the forum, it will get "pinned" / "stickied". No ammount of demanding will make us sticky a post that is, well, mundane. If your cool post in the sniper thread is "WEAR KAMO!!!!!", we're not going to pin it to the top no matter how much you beg us to. Plus if you need to "bump" a thread to the top yourself, that should tell you it's not as informative as you might think.

Now, how NOT to get a thread closed. Your in a thread that's being flamed from one side of the board to the other. And you believe that it's no longer in the interest of the forum to have it open. Here's how not to get it closed.

Post any of the following in the thread. : "MODS CLOSE THIS!" / "ADMINS CLOSE PLZ! K THX!"
Use the "close" to flame, example. : "I REPORTING U and this thred will be CLOSED!!!! LOSER!!!!"
Send PM's that read like this : "MOD! u gotta close the thred about bob's railroad shakc! they are filling it with spam and i want you to close it now!!!!"
Pretend to be a moderator yourself : "This thred sux.......... CLOSED!!!!!11!oneoneoneexclamationpoint"

We're not your lap dog to run your errands. If people disagree with your viewpoint it's not automatically flaming you. People have the right to, in fact, disagree with you if they so desire. If you think a thread is getting too flame-heavy, a polite PM to a moderator or admin person saying "I'd like you to take a look at the thread about Bob's Railroad Shack. Here is the link over to it. "Q-bert" is getting really nasty, and he's causing the problems. Thank you for your time." will get you MUCH more results than "CLOSE THIS THREAD OR U SUK!" Or, like the stickies, we may just step in and close the thread.

The same thing goes for reopening threads. No ammount of crying and whining will get us to reopen a thread. If you politely ask WHY it was closed, or you can make a claim as to WHY it should be re-opened, please feel free. "It's my thread!" isn't a reason. "It was only Q-Bert being the trouble maker. You could delete his comments and reopen it!" however, is a valid reason to try. However, if the trouble continues, don't be surprised if the thread is re-closed.

Oh, and while I'm on the topic, you see that "report this post" button down there? That's like calling "911". It's a direct line to the admins, yes. But it's NOT for reporting people just being mean to you. If a thread isn't going how you like, don't report it to the admin staff and expect it to be closed. We have a lot of people on the forum, and not everyone will agree with you.

Thank you for your time, and happy posting on the forums.
