Can't help you silerbandit91, no experience. I'm asking a question myself.

Will a stiif fit on a Proto Matrix, cause I noticed the back of a single-piece barrel has stiffi in that wierd piece there, and I wondered if it would stop the barrel from going in all the way, or is my fear inapplicable?

It is a very nice barrel, but remember to have a paint which matches it!

I have a problem with my stiffi, that is probably to no fault of its own. I own a A-5 and use .689 feild paint. They dont make Tippman threads for the Switch Kits. SOOOO I bought a A-5 to spyder thread adaptor and bought the Spyder threads for the Stiffi. Heres what happens, The A-5 adapter doesnt solve the bolt sizing difference. the bolt gets stuck in the breech. The only way for this to work would be get a breech that has the same sized bolt as the A-5 or get longer adaptor.

Any helpfull hint or suggestions?

PS> I wish they made St!ffis for A-5s <_<
I need DM 03 UPs!! PM me what you have!

I hope this isn't considered derailing of this thread, but I'm suprised nobody has mentioned the CCM (www.chipleymachine.com) barrel as an alternative for those looking for a kit with sizers. Actually I'm not surprised. I can't tell you how many times I've been asked excitedly "hey is that a stiffi?". When I reply no it's CCM, I get a very disinterested look and they walk away . Back on topic, it comes with 5 different sizers and a soft case (available for A5, I just looked). Available in 12" and 14". I haven't had the chance to compare the sound reduction between 12" and 14", but it would be nice to have the chance someday. I've had a 12" version for my cocker for a while now and when I compared it to another player's stiffi, the stiffy is smooth on the outside of the barrel versus the CCM's "bumpy" and the CCM barrel is a bit glossier due to a clear coating they put on it for durability. Don't get me wrong, the CCM barrel is great looking and it's not shiney/reflective, but I just can't seem to find better words to describe the difference. The reason for the difference in finish as I've been told (beware of the third hand info :P) is that stiffi sands their barrels to achieve the outer smoothness and this is what lead to some of the early complaints of unraveling. Stiffi has since fixed those early problems as I've been told (don't own a stiffi myself, but lots of happy campers in this thread can probably attest to it).

I personally went with the CCM because of two things. One, I liked that idea that they coated the outside of the barrel. And 2 the company just rocks. I have a CCM S5 (it's a cocker variant) and the company offers and has honored many times a lifetime warranty on all of their products. If the reg, valve, ram, etc stop functioning, send it in and they fix it for free for life. Who else does this?! They used to have the lifetime warranty advertised on their website, but I can't find it anymore. Just check their forums and search for warranty or call the company if you don't believe it. You'll see a lot of posts about honored warranty claims.

Here's a link to a discussion right on their forums by other CCM owners comparing and contrasting:

http://ccmowners.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t...warranty+barrel

Anyhow just another alternative out there. The barrel shoots straight and is very quiet and either way I don't think there will be any dissappointment if you can afford this or the stiffi barrel. I think I paid $150-$160 shipped for mine

As for the cotton swap thing, what is reported to happen is that the cotton will eventually catch on the porting holes as every edge is a potential spot for unraveling. It's not as if running a cotton cloth over your barrel is going to make it explode, it's just that the swab inside is under a lot of pressure and really shoves the cotton into all the little places and can catch on the porting hole edges.

Spec Ops sells them for $$98.95 here

It's the most accurate barrel I've ever had.
In the end you just need to get paint that matches your barrel size. When I got mine from Spec Ops it was .689 cal. I believe.

Well then we're even, I've never shot an Apex before.......... ;)

I have a flatline, Stiffi, Xcel and J&J. I've been told that the Apex is capable of increasing your distance to equal that of the Flatline.

If you're looking for accuracy then the Siffi is for you.......... B) The flatline and Apex are NOT, trust me.......
If you're a Sniper, I'd go with a J&J or Stiffi.
