good job mack, and PW, that's a great find, and a good site as well.

Almost all of my stuff is former military, probably considered vintage now, but all tried, true, and personally tested to the max. If need be, i could bug out quickly. i am riding the fence on whether or not i would take off. everyone has their plan, i have a contingency for staying put, as well for heading south to the caves. most of it depends on numbers of people and personal choices within the group. at what point do you break off and become the lone ranger ? when family is involved, it is not such an easy decision.

meds are hard to measure for because the easiest and most efficient form to carry them is in pills. but pills are also the easiest form that they break down chemically. they would need to be kept in darkened, watertight containers, easily distinguishable from each other to avoid overdosing and just plain wastefulness of taking the wrong one because you thought it was for something else. pain relief and antibiotics would be at a premium. pain relief you can also get from some plants if you know what to look for and how it needs to be prepared. from the reading i have been doing and looking around the grounds, i have been able to identify some very useful plants. but any meds you keep, just know that after very long, they become not only useless, but also potentially harmful.

Yeah, I'm still trying to talk myself into pulling the trigger on that Hellcat. It's down to that, or a Large OD ALCIE rig with Tactical Tailor straps and belt. I could get 2 hellcat's for the price of the TT modded ruck, bit TT makes top-line gear.

And if anyone is looking for 1st line LBE gear (aka a belt-kit), here's a great base.

http://wardenssupply...products_id=454

Belt, harness, canteen, a few pouches. It shouldn't be to hard to get that to a baseline survival kit you can grab and go with.

Hello sorry I haven posted in a while but just got back from a week at the fire academy.

So onto my question, I had pre ordered a Benchmade 62 Balisong (or butterfly knife) but I cancelled my order after realizing that spending $220 on a butterfly knife was silly since I already have a BM 51.
So i have $220 burning a hole in my pocket, and im unsure what to get, any suggestions?

Depends. What kind of preps do you already have? If you have to hit the grocery store every other day, or can't remember the last time you changed the batteries in you flashlights, you might wanna handle the mundane stuff first. I eat and use flashlights about 1000 times more often than I use the AK.

If you don't have a .22, go buy one. Now.

Or you can send it to me. I'm sure I could find something to invest it in.

Benjamin and Gamo are the best companies ( I think ) for nitro pistons. Crosman actually made the NP, but everyone else buys it from them.

In air gun production, the general rule of thumb is..unfortunately.. British made is better. (Benjamin is British) Part of the reason being is America ( has the best steel in the world ) exports its steel. But among other things, they just pay more attention to their products.

When you buy an NP powered air rifle, your paying for the piston itself...the gun just comes wraped around the piston. Meaning that since the NP is made by one company only, basically all performances are the same across the board...compared to matching NP's. There are a few different types of piston though. A GP is a low pressure piston. Its designed for sub sonic shots. Then there is a SS NP, or a short stroke nitro piston. Its built for smaller frame guns but has the same power as a full size piston.

Since the pistons are the same, the actual gun is the part you look for in terms of detail. Like I said earlier, British guns are made with more attention to detail..and they charge you for it too. Crosman is one of the cheaper brands in gun making, but its still very good. basically all construction are similar..so you really canto to wrong. Game vs Crosman...the Game is great out of the box no questions asked, Crosman is the same, but you may have to take it apart once and love it a bit...file down edges, round corners, just tune it a bit. Nothing is wrong with any NP gun so far...the cheap box stores havent demanded them enough yet.

But persoanlly, Crosman, Gamo and Benjamin, you cant go wrong with any of them.

Heres a list of specific NP guns http://www.pyramydai.../Gas_spring/372

You can get non NP guns and have them converted to NP...its just a matter of exchanging the spring with the NP.

Sorry, heres a list of .22 NP specific guns http://www.pyramydai...2/calibers_0_22 the other link if for all calibers with NP.

On the air gun topic, heres my brothers Gamo Whisper in .177, paint done my me and him.

Hes got a Center point 4x10x40 scope and a bipod he mounted to the frame.

Speaking of scopes :), ONLY BUY AIR GUN SCOPES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can take a Berrett .50 scope and put it on an air gun, and inside a month of shooting I guarantee it'll be a paper weight. Fire arms and air guns have different recoil jerks. And air gun jerks a scope backwards and forward. While a firearms scope is designed for only one recoil jerk.

Sure you can spend the money and get a good rifle scope, but IT WILL loose its center after a while and it will never hold again. Center Point scopes..I duno what they are, but several guys have sued them ( including myself and my brother ) and they hold up on air rifles. SO go with them, their cheap and very good.

Or you could wait until next month. You turn 18 then. Rifles and Shotguns are perfectly legal for an 18 year old to purchase.

Old man Ruger supported the original AWB in the early 90s. That much is true. He supported a 15 round mag capacity because that was his largest mag on the market at the time, in the P89 pistol.

Since he died, the Sturm-Ruger company has released their Hi-Cap Mini-14 mags, high cap 10/22 mags, produced numerous high capacity handguns, and even released a piston AR15. The sins of the father weren't repeated by the son.

As for Wal-mart, you can buy Rifle and Shotgun ammo at 18. Some will sell you pistol ammo at 18, if you specify it's for a carbine. It's up to the discretion of clerk at the counter. They won't let you buy pistol ammo for a handgun until you are 21 though.

As for the article, looks like WND's usual hype spun over the old DHS "Right Wing Extremist" BS. If they put a little less rhetoric and a little more reporting in, I'd appreciate them as a legitimate news site. As it stands, they are too far right even for the guy who carries a weapon at arms reach every moment of his life.

Bill ruger helped to write legislator that capped magazines at being able to hold 10 rounds. I think in some ways he was just trying to avoid the magazines being made even smaller, or to avoid the banning of certain firearms all together.

But anyways...the whole high capacity agazine thing was why people say he is anti second ammendments.
