How many of you are moving to or live in the desert??? Plenty of places to hide out there.

well, i would def think about heading south, and maybe west ... lots of caves and such, but i am gonna wait till all the major sh!t is over...

the whole thing that gets me is that on that day, we will be aligned with the largest body in our planetary system ( the sun ) and the largest power known to man ( the black hole in the center of our universe ). The sun will be between us and the black hole. There was more than one ancient civilization that considered the sun to possess many powers.. one of which was to act as a lens and be able to magnify what is directed at us. If the gravitational pull and power of the black hole gets amplified towards us on that day... who knows what type of shifts in the earths tektonic plates could happen, and what that would do to our oceans, coastlands, mountain ranges. If that triggers activity like that, how long will it take before the aftershocks would stop, or the skies would clear. or the waters recede ? There could be another ice age triggered until the planets eco system settles down, so it would make sense to head south, but what if the new coastland is in kentucky to the south, and new mexico to the west, ohio to the east ? Better for me to hunker down in my fly-over state and see what i can do to sustain myself and the group i am with for a while.

As long as I have my hot tub, i'm good... :D

But in the event that the human species is faced with extinction, i hereby volunteer to do everything i can, on my part, to help procreate the human race !

HELL no I ain't headed to the desert.

I am by rivers and wetlands out here, I can grow, hunt/ and trade for food, get as much water as I need form the hundred-and-some-odd foot well I draw from, and, if needed, absolutely disappear in the thousands of square miles of woods we have out here. I've been living, camping, and hunting around here all my life. Familiarity is a huge advantage to me (like the fact I know which 3 nearby stands of woods shelter whole families of deer).

And IF I need to get to higher ground, it's 4 hours legally to the highest point East of the Mississippi, which means a less than 3 torching it on the backroads. Plenty of caves and crap up there. And lots of safe water (melt water, some of the clearest and coldest streams you'll ever drink from, and even deep aquifers if surface water is compromised). And game. And plants I can eat. And tons of pine to build a cabin with.

I'm not squared away for desert survival, but I could likely manage in most of the Eastern half of North America.

You know what. If the EOTW does happen, I'm finding a grower and recruiting him. He can manage the agriculture, among other things.

Well, i've got a pretty good green thumb, but NC is gonna be underwater bro....now louisianna could be interesting, because if you make a place out there deep in the swamp, up on stilts, your food is at your doorstep every morning, and anyone trying to get to you will have to be very determined to get through all the snakes and gaters and voodoo ... thats it, if youre gonna make it out in the swamp, it would be very good idea to have a witch along to help ya ... and i don't mean some chick who's just PMS'in .. i mean a full blown voodoo magic, wart on the chin, witch.

very slowly but surely, my barn is getting redone. a little corner here, a section there, and what goes back in is some sort of plan for how to use it for end times. Bulk food storage area over here, overhead storage for sleeping and camping stuff, an area for immediate and emergency bug out supplies. I really struggled with getting rid of about 1/4 ton of scrap i had accrued over the years...nuts and bolts and just onesy twosey crap. But i justified keeping it around by thinking it could be used as easy, quick and dirty shrapnel in the making of quick explosive devices that we aren't supposed to talk about. But i finally did haul that all out.

I still have TONS (literally) of hand tools and power tools that I have acrued over the years, and need to organize and get rid of.

Then if i wake up to the same old same old on the 22nd, i can run cable and electric to the barn and i got me a man cave !!

I dont realy fear the big event coming up. I'm moving to a place where people are NOT going to go even if they had to. So all I need to do then is survive. And living in the desert is not that hard. Food is everywhere ( mostly protein..not a lot of fruits and such), but water is sorta an issue. If you can get it out of the ground, your set for life. But its that process that kills. If you can get water from the underground rivers that run all over the desert, you can raise generations there. Plus there are tons of hiding places if you happen to get someones attention.

Its the most hospital looking places that provide the most life.
