My "sniping" yesterday! for your reading pleasure! Rate Topic: -----

Location: Giant Paintball. Lakeside, CA

So,

Yesterday I went and played some paintball for the first time in 3 years. I had a blast! first 3 games myself and 2 buddies I brought got demolished! But, that was ok. We were just getting warmed up. The ref called out that we were to play on the "castle" field (picture shown below). So, I decided to jump into my ghillie suit (also shown below). As soon as I suited up. The discussion around the staging area consisted of WTF's, SNIPER!'s, and HAHAHAHA's. Me giggling inside, knew that all the laughter and ridicule would soon be squashed! It was about 10vs10, and we headed out to the field.

The first game at the castle, we were the "Attackers". Our objective: to get the flag inside of the castle! I had my 2 friends with me, and about 7ish other walkons on our team. The other team was more walkons that we didn't know. I said to my buddies, "Hey, you guys go left with me, keep em busy and i'll take em out ok?" After they agreed, we moved out on the left flank. There was plenty of waist high bushes he whole way! I hit the deck and started crawling right towards the enemy team. About 20-30 feet away, I could see them coming right for me! One guy looked right towards me, but my ghillie fooled his skeptical eyes! there were 4 defenders in front of me (3 that i knew of). I could hear them saying, "I saw that ghillie run this way...did you see him? No I didn't. Keep looking, he's here somewhere!" then, one of them got shot in the knee by a stray paintball from my friend's suppressive fire! My two friends were maybe 75-100ft behind me, laying down rounds. This was the perfect distraction for my ghost flanking! A few moments later, I hear someone VERY close! One of the 4 guys(3 now thanks to my bros!) walked literally 5 feet away from me, right past me. I waited until he was about 15 feet away, flipped over, and gave him one good paintball to the side. "OMFG!!! I didn't even see you!!" he yelled. Now that my cover was blown, I popped up and fired several shots at another defender, standing in a window. He took cover, fired back at me, missed, then I waited for him to get back in the window, and POW POW!! 1 more down.

Now at the time, I thought that was all of them. So I stand up to see who else was running about. Just then, I see a blue mask move in the bushes, about 25 feet to my left. Immediately, I turned and fired one shot, right above the mask, then I hear crying...turns out I shot the 10 year old who was playing right in the head! His dad was the one who got shot in the knee earlier. I asked, "Is he alright? is he ok?" after getting the ok from his dad, I continued. We pushed hard to the castle, and our flag runner ran right in, winning us the game!

So, as you can see. "sniper" or not, I had one guy walk literally 5 feet from me, completely undetected, another had no clue I was there, and the third was scared, so he hid. Whatever name you want to give this style of play... IT WORKS!

Now here's the best part. And I know some of you "snipers" have had this happen to you.

The next game we were defending. I decided to go on the left (right side for previous game) along the dried up creek. Lots of shadows, and perfect for an ambush. So the game started, I flank left, staying low and moving as fast as possible without blowing my cover...I got about halfway up the creek, and waited in a nice spot, behind some soft cover...and waited....and waited....and OMFG it's been 5 mins wtf is going on...so I creep up more...slowly, looking for that ambush. The gunfire stopped... I thoguht to myself, "Great, theres probably one or two left, and they know im in a ghillie, so they are trying to ambush me." So I kept creeping a bit further, now about 75% up the left side. And waited again...a fly lands on my gun...I stare, he stares back...birds begin chirping in the trees again....5 mins rolls by...no gunfire... Now I am thinking, "Hmmm, maybe the game is over...but if I stand up i'm going to get lit up by some guy patiently waiting for me..." So I keep moving slowly up field...another 5 mins rolls by...then I hear, "ALEX!!!!! DUUUUUDE!!!! WHERE ARE YOU!!! THE GAME'S OVER!!!" So I stand up, "WTF!!!! GUYS!" Why didn't you yell for me 15 mins ago!" They thought I already went back to the staging area....um ok....then after they realized I didn't...they assumed I blacked out on the field due to the heat...HAHAHA! I went back to the staging area...and everyone began laughing becuase I was still playing 15 mins after the game..turns out, they grabbed the flag and sprinted straight into the castle >_<!!!!! FAIL!

Well, I hope you enjoyed my "super ultra sneaky fury bush wearing defeat the other guys without them seeing me" story... such a mouthfull... sniper is so much easier! :)

Had something similar happen at dday during the night game, only they were the ones doing the sniping

the MAIN reason I love this stlye of play, PSYCHOLOGICAL warfare! The enemy team was so spooked that there was a "sniper" near them, it slowed their flank enough to give us an advantage on our left side of the field. It was a textbook play if you watch the specialops guide book on ghost flanking. What a rush!

That's the thing about playing sniper. Some games you get the drop on people and have that amazing ambush. Other games you are just waiting around for someone.....anyone to show themselves.

Try playing a sniper themed game. Example: Send a few good men out into the field to hide, then send the "horde" in to find them. Or there's this bodyguard game i played: "terrorist" team goes onto the field first and hides. Bodyguard team has to escort the VIP from point A to point B. Fun stuff.

Yeah, I love doing stuff like that. My old team (only 4 of us) used to practice what we called "Snipe and Seek". Basically, It was me vs the 3 others. It helped me with my concealment, movement, patience, etc. And it also helped them with anti sniper tactics.

Gotta love when someone walks 5 feet away and has no idea you are there!
