Hey all,
New guy here. I'm getting a kaos soon and I'm going to put some digi camo on it, more for looks than camo. The idea is to do it like this...

(I know it's a blitz)
...but replace the orange parts with camo.
So, I have a nice airbrush (iwata eclipse) and a ton of acrylic paints. If I paint the kaos with those acrylic paints, and use some krylon clear coat afterwards, will it be durable enough for woodsball play?
Thanks.

Extra info: I airbrushed camo onto some airsoft pistols and used some testors model sealant on them. They're holding up pretty well, and I would suppose that krylon clear coat would be even more protective than the testors, am I right?

Edit for spelling

I've never painted anything paintball related, but just this tip.

Plan on touching it up, no matter what. Unless you can get an anodized finish where the color practically becomes part of the metal, your gonna have to redo it eventually. The clear coat will definitely help its durability, but won't make it last forever.
Try and find something with a similar base metal as the khaos (odd, my friend got one too, not a half bad shooter, and surprisingly consistent for not having a reg) to test out your equipment on. It'd royally suck if halfway through you noticed the paint bubbled up off of the marker.

If you can afford it, I would recommend duracoat. It's kind of expensive, but it lasts virtually forever.

By the way, welcome to the forums! I hope you have yourself an enjoyable little stay here. Just make sure to check out the rules and regs so you know what's going on. :)

Thanks for the fast replies. Duracoat is unfortunately way out of my price range.

Also, does anyone know what the body of the kaos is made of? I'm guessing plastic, maybe aluminum?

And more advice/thoughts/opinions about using acrylics is still very welcome.

Thanks.

Now I'm only guessing here, so don't quote me on this, but I would think that the body would be made of aluminum. The Kaos doesn't seem like it would be made of plastic.

But anyway, I just had an idea. Glass resin. It's hard and resistant to scratches; you just have to keep it from cracking like glass does. Shouldn't be too hard to protect it, though, just don't toss it around like a rock or anything...

EDIT for a second thought: However, that would leave a very gloosy, reflective finish. I'm not sure how stealthy you want to be, but glass resin COULD catch a bit of glare and give you away to an opponent with a good eye...

Hey,

Thanks for the suggestions Ka1iBuR but I'm really just wondering if anyone has used acrylics and whether it is a good idea or not to use them.

Thanks!
