i sort of found it strange that when i delete a gear entry because i sold it i go 10 points down if i dont have it i dont want it on my gear list but i want the points because i did buy a piece of gear and played with it for at least a year whats with this?

You remove the item so the points with it go.
If you want to retain the points then you have to keep the item, you could edit the description to mark it as sold and possibly drop it to the bottom of the list

You get points for owning an item, not just for purchasing it... if you want to keep the points then keep the item in your gear bag.
If you are desperate to accumulate points that don't matter anymore, do what Tom mentioned - although that's a bit dishonest. But then again, who cares since the points don't count for free stuff anymore. If that's the case, you might as well list every paintball you buy... plus every screwdriver & spare screw you have in your toolbox.
