Hey, guys. I've been searching for a new mask the past few days. My old one has taken quite a few hits to the eyepiece, and I haven't exactly maintained it well at all, and as such I refuse to use it anymore for my own safety. Thus, I've been looking for my dream mask--a low profile, heavily padded mask that will protect my face and allow me to lean in as close to my A5's stock as possible.

I found such a mask: Dye i4's. I tried 'em on a few weeks ago, and I absolutely loved 'em, they were perfect. Alas, they cost a hundred bucks, which I don't have. I've looked around more since then and found some promising samples, but I just wanted to hear good ol' SO's opinions on things.

So, tell me, what's a good choice of mask for a $70 budget?

High end:

Dye I4's (used)
Proto Pro Axis
E-vents '10
Sly Profit
Grillz
Flex 7's

Mid:

Profilers
Dye I3's
E-Vents '08/09
Invert 20/20

Low:

Proto Switch El
Vents (Avatar/Helix)
V-Force Shield

I mean if your buying new then this is pretty basic. If your buying used make sure your getting a good deal, IE: Foam is good, and lens is good as well. Also, prices may vary from place to place.

What you should do is go to your local shop and try on every single mask and see what fits you best.

V-Force Profiler, V-Force ProVantage, JT ProFlex, JT Flex 8--these are all masks I've played with. I own a black Profiler, myself.

Now if attaining the best possible cheek weld with a mask on is your priority, I would suggest the JT ProFlex or Flex 8, as they will, well...flex more so than other masks. Personally, I'm partial to V-Force masks because of their huge field of view, the ease of changing lenses, and in my opinion, superior foam than JTs.

EDIT: Of course, as other members have stated, try before you buy. A mask might have the best lens in the world, but it can still feel incredibly uncomfortable on your face. If a local store doesn't have a particular model, ask the players at the field if you can try on their masks. Paintballers are always willing to show-off their gear.

i like the proflex,it ets u cheek the stock really well...but its not just because they flex alot, there s also less mask over the jaw line and pretty much only a strap over the ear.

I would have done exactly what has been said already if I could get to a shop. Actually, I don't even know if there is one in my area! I know of three fields, and that's it, so.. yeah. Not so good.

Those Profilers are what has been catching my eye the most. I've seen that they've gotten great reviews and are generally loved by the public, so I'm inclined to go that direction. However, the Vantage masks also have great reviews for similar reasons and are a good $30 cheaper, so I may go that way.

What do you all think of those two?

My wife uses the Vantage goggles and has no complaints. Also the replacement lenses are cheaper. Over on Action Village you can get them for $8 instead of $22 for the profilers.

Well, I tell you what: if your wife is using said mask, it'll probably fit me fine, since women tend to have smaller heads, as I do. Plus, the lenses are cheaper, as well as the mask, so it's all-around a better value. Plus, no matter what I get, it'll be an upgrade from my last piece of honkey mask, so I think I'm going to go with the Pro Vantage masks.

You won't be disappointed. It is a big step up from the masks you get in a Wal-Mart player pack. It is also a bit of a step up from the V-force rental goggles. If it does not become your permanent mask it will get you by until you are ready to drop $100 for a set of goggles.

Well, the Vantage is good enough for Tyger. But that's probably because it was all he could afford at the time. :P

I love my Vantage. It's really comfortable and the lens seems nice.

Yeah it is. I don't mean to belittle the mask. I like its lens-change system better than the Profiler.

My ultimate plan is to eventually get a set of Dye i4s. I have seen absolutely nothing as tight and comfortable as those, and thus, I WILL get my hands on them, though it'll be a year or more, haha. But I'm glad to hear good things about the Pro Vantage from you all, I think I'm going to get a good value for my money!

Noob is back again--what is the best way to clean a paintball mask up after a game, and what is should I use as a cleaner, if anything?

I ask because the pinned thread on the issue says to use Plexus.. which, as far as I can tell, is a plastic surface cleaner, and some places I've seen say not to use any chemicals at all.
