Alright, so I was discussing paintball with my brother in law, but now basically I've decided I'm not going to go paintballing with him ever. He told me how he cranks his fps up to the max just to get straighter shots, and I explained to him how this is very dangerous and even illegal to have your fps above 300, and his response was "it's not above 300, if it was illegal then they wouldn't let the guns go that high". I then tried to explain to him how co2 varys with heat etc., but no dice. He refuses to get it cronographed, and refuses to play anything but outlaw ball because a field because will cronograph it (note I have nothing against outlaw ball, as long as you keep it safe, I play it myself sometimes, but it's idiots like these that make it dangerous). He refuses to accept the fact that his marker could do some serious damage at close range, and if someone had a damaged lense on their mask (which they should replace, but this is outlaw ball). He could do some serious damage to them. He states that he never shoots at close range, but all it takes is one failed attempt at a bunker to shock him, and I garuntee he will shoot.

So yeah, I've decided against playing with my brother in law until he lets me cronograph his marker and prove to him that it is unsafe.

Ugh I know, I've been hit with a hot gun in the back and I've got a circular scar from last year!

It's like this weird issue I ran into my Tippmann 98C the other day...velocity screw all the way in, almost every shot over 300...

So the field says, try cutting a coil or two off your drive spring (I was using the TechT ZKH, but not for the first time...it had given me LOW velocity issues before). I did so.

It began shooting around 280...but still, over 290 (field limit) and 300.

Cut off two more...fired around 250, some around 275...5/30 shots over 290 and 1 over 300 still. I gave it to them to repair because I was at a total loss, and they called and said they fixed it the next day though they said it would be a week. I'm gonna be PO'ed if they just put the stock hammer and spring back in, because I have both the originals and could have done so myself.

Think it's some sort of valve problem?

yeah, I guess there is really not much I can do.

Funny thing is he wonders why is 12oz co2 tank is constanty running out of air

Just don't play with him and tell everyone you can that might be playing with him about his unsafe-ness. He'll either have to abandon the sport or play safe.

that's basically what I've decided to do. He hardly ever plays really, I was just inviting him to come with me, but not any more.

This. Seriously. If he's willing to let you shoot him with his own marker from 10' away you MIGHT reconsider playing with him. You get to take 3 shots: one to the torso, one to the thigh and one to the back (Kidneys are always nice).

Stipulations that would keep you from playing with him: If he screams, if he drops to the ground, if he swears or if the shot causes him to bleed.

Don't tell hem what order you're going to shoot him in, but shoot the thigh first. No matter what thigh you choose, tell him his gun doesn't shoot that straight, you were aiming for the other one, "good thing it didn't hit you in the crotch".

When doing the torso shot, hit about 2 or 3 inches above the nipples and dead center, "I was shooting at your belly, good thing I wasn't aiming higher or it might have hit you in the throat".

For the back, take your pick of the kidneys or tail bone.

I'd bet he'll change his mind about a safe velocity.

I'd use Monsterballs to make the point, but I'm just evil that way.
