Longbows and Q-bow's are arguably THE best guns in the world of sniping.

As much as a mag hoe I am, I would argue against this.
Like I stated The X-valve is phenominal at shooting extremely consistant, at high rates,
But when you fire off one at a time, or even spaced out. Each ball is subject to the heat inside the X-valve, when you shoot the X-valve heats up, expanding and allowing more air in, ( which is why the faster you shoot the higher the Velocity gets with a mag) and of course the faster you are shooting the more consistant the heat inside the Valve becomes (thus consistancy, same amount of air goes in each time)

So for single shots, the consistancy is always a little bouncy as depending on 1 BPS, or 2 BPS, or 3 BPS all the way up to 15BPS might mean the difference between a "+/- of 10" or "+/- 5" or at high rates, a "+/- 2"

Are the the best looking markers? Hell yes,
But to be honest the Q-bow only takes advantage of the Valve, its alot more logical to slap a Halo or a Prophacy /Rotor/Pinokio/ what-ever else on top.

I would argue the Super Nova's to be the best "sniping" marker as they operate at insanely low Pressures and the sound signature is actually nothing. maybe sir Piller will join in this discussion, write a entire wall of text of knowlege which we can all stare at for hours on end.

hey, i understand ya have a lot of questions and ask until your blue in the face. i would suggest making 1 thread with all your questions in it as to not clutter the forum.

ok on to the sniper marker, i have owned alot of paintball guns out there and well, i would have to say, go with the tac one. i get the blah blah x valve blah blah(not rippin on ya eskimo) but i have honestly never had a problem. here is what i ran for awhile and loved every second of it and got alot of people out with it.

are they quieter than a cocker, or have you used a cocker before to be able to say ? cuz the quietest gun i have ever heard ( or not .. lol ) is a cocker, but i have never played with a nova so i dont really know

i have also heard ( no pun intended ) that droids are extremely quiet ... any comments on that ?

I'm shocked no ones mentioned a 98c with a flatline w/ red dot. Perfect gun set up with rifle stock and remote line, it shoots far as hell, it's accurate and if you just pop a shot at a time no one will gauge your position.

No, no, no, and no. Some reasons this was not mentioned:

1. A Flatline equipped 98 won't shoot as far as a First Strike equipped marker, and it will shoot less accurately than most barrels.

2. The backspin offers a flat trajectory, but trades a lack of accuracy. Paintballs aren't perfect spheres, and inconsistency in the paint also promotes an inconsistent result with the backspin

3. The 98 is inconsistent. Consistency over the chrono with good paint is the key to accuracy. There are better choices than any blowback.

And i only add to this necro'd thread because it's such a stereotypical response that is flawed.

YAY SNIPING!

Want to know what I use for my "1337 5nyp4r" marker?

Classic Mag (Minimag Valve, PF Left, with a Doc's Machine TL to cocker adapter), Minimag Valve, Classic single AGD trigger frame. 16 inch stiffi. 45 round hopper. Air on gun, small tank 43 c.i.

Super light with the small tank, stiffi, and low cap hopper. Crazy consistent over the chrono and shoots darts with the right paint. Also, the huge amount of porting combined with the valve and the right paint is super quiet (for a mech).

Look here and on Automags.org in the B/S/T. You can get the whole rig for about $150 in good working condition. Also, it comes with the never ending sexiness and street cred you get by rocking a classic 'Mag.

Since the invention of First Strike paintballs, all other guns that shoot regular spherical paintballs have become obsolete as "sniper" guns.

Get a Tiberius Arms T9.1 or T4 rifle. First Strike rounds have been measured at shooting as far as 100 yards maximum (true, they aren't too accurate at that distance, but still...). That's close to three times the distance you'll get on just about any other gun.

There are problems with the FS round, though.

One, plenty of fields don't allow them, because at close range they will do a number on your skin-the little plastic fin doesn't break up and can leave a nasty, nasty mark.

Two, they're EXPENSIVE. You can get as high as $1/shot, and even if you buy a ton in bulk, you're still paying $0.25-$0.50 a shot. It's brought down by the fact that you never shoot too many at a time, but if you find yourself in too close for them to be an advantage, you either need to carry a backup (Or, on a T9 or T4, a hopper of regular paint), fall back (Which is LAME.) or walk off (Which is even LAMER.).

Three, they don't do well in low brush, no more so than regular paint. If you have long, clear lines of sight, they're great, but put a few twigs in the way and the First Strike loses all its advantage. The wind also does a number on them too.

Don't get me wrong-in the perfect conditions-elevated position, good weather, clear sitelines, you can really get your sniper fantasy going on. I've seen games where a guy with a FS marker got in a good spot and it all went south real fast for the people getting shot at. But you can't count on it.

If you DO want a good FS gun, for cheap, get a used Tac-9.1, fit it with a decent barrel and no stock and fashion a holster or scabbard for it, and carry it around for when the opportunity presents itself. But don't rely on it.

FS guns should be placed in the same category as launchers and such-devastating in their element, but near useless everywhere else.

To answer your question, I would say the best gun for sniping would be the Tiberius 9.1.

Now, if you are just beigining to be a sniper, my suggestion would be this:
1. Get out of the mind set of being a sniper, and get into the mindset of being an ambush/sniper. what i mean by this is don't expect to be taking people out from further than they can take you out.
2. Focus more on being concealed. As stated above, if you can shoot them, they can shoot you. If they can't see you, they won't know where/who to shoot.
3. Equipment wise, you will need a gun. Any gun will honestly do, but there are a few key factors:
a. nothing shiny
b. get a scope, not a high powered zoomed scope, but a simple red/green dot used for simple target aquisition.
c. forget the e.trigger/response trigger/ramping boards, ect.
4. If you're sure you are going into the ambush/sniper position, and you KNOW you're going to like it, get you a ghilli suited and colored for your area. You can get one of those awesome action ghilli's, or you can go to a hobby store and your local army surplus store to get the materials to build you one. DO NOT FORGET SOMETHING FOR YOUR MASK (the most forgot about piece that needs camo)

As for personal use, I am an ambush/sniper. I have a Tippmann 98 Custom, I've sunk about $200 into it over the past 5 years, and alot of it is a cosmetic "scare tactic" because the basic functionality of the gun is suited to what I need. After I finish my second Ghilli, I am going to start saving up for the Tiberius T9.1, but only because I love to play the mil-sim game. I'd rather go out with 8 mags strapped to me than a hopper with 200 paintballs rattling around. I do own a T8, and unless I am bunkered down and well concealed, my 98 Custom stays on my back, and my T8 is in my hands.

Sniper marker?

I have a T9, I have all the gizmos and stuff for it.

I have a Tac-One, complete with q-loader and red dot, air thru T2W the works.

I have an A-5, all the gizmos for that too...

What do I use to snipe...

Classic mag, no sight, no sight rail, tank on ASA, 45 round hopper, stiffi barrel (docsmachine twistlock to cocker adapter).

You don't need sights, rails, stocks, bipods, and all that other garbage... What you need is consistency with a side order of quiet. Trust me. Classic mag, stiffi. You will -NOT- be disapointed.

The Tiberius T4 looks solid, but it's pricey.

The Tiberius Arms T9.1 is my personal recommendation. You can get a T9.1 for $350. Buy a few mags, a simple molley chest rig to carry them, and you're good to go. The first strike rounds give you an incredible boost to range. They also tend to fly a lot straighter. The downside, as already mentioned, is that they are pricey.

Take your time before you make the purchase. If you're just starting out, get something cheap and learn to shoot. Learn how the game works. Then, if you want to start getting into other types of play, at least you'll have a base to start from.

I love it.

On a serious note, test out a mag and see how you like it. Thats my personal favorite for stealth (and probably everything else)
