Ah, well if you are going to sand the whole thing, the dripping is a complete non-issue then. Good luck w/ the process man, looking forward to the update after the weekend.

WARNING:Your about to heat up aluminum!!!!! The space shuttle uses aluminum as a propellant. You aren't going to get that hot or anything but just wanted to let you know.

Yes do send feedback!!! I'm very interested in how this turns out.

A 300 degree bake is not going to do any damage to the aluminum shells of a Tippmann marker. After all they make bake ware out of aluminum and sometimes the oven has to be heated to 450 degrees.

This stuff is pretty tough and doesn't have a problem with normal heat and cold that you would expect from something like the truck bed lining stuff. I seem to remember that stuff getting soft while it would sit in the sun.

The stuff I'm using is very strange, heat is it's catalyst and it wont harden unless it's around 300 degrees.

Anyways, I should have some photos for you on Monday, we'll see how it turns out.

The dip is Black.

So I worked on it till the wee hours of the night (got home around 2:00 am) and I totally screwed it up. I was working on another project in tandem with it (just a normal paint job) and left the 98 body in the oven too long after dipping. What happened was hilarious!

I'll post pics sometime tonight or tomorrow. Nothing got ruined that I can tell but after pulling off all the ruined dip from the 98 body last night, I should be ready for round two tonight.

Keep trying man. This has never been done before, so screw ups are mandatory. I might try the spray application myself after a while.

I was surprised. It was only suppose to be in there for 15 minutes. I left it in for over an hour! I

Lol that's very finely powdered aluminum, and they phased out aluminum fuels years ago. It's still used in pyrotechnics and hobby rockets though.

Yea. the ET (big orange thing) uses liquid O2 and hyrdrogen if i remember correctly. and the SRB's used to use aluminium, but like headshotPhantom said, they phased that out a while back. back in the 90's
