I can see where you are coming from, but a longer barrel will increase my speed and hear is why. I'm shooting Co2 and its stored as a liquid. When fired the liquid expands propelling the ball. Now if you have a barrel the gas is channeled into a fixed place to expand. A longer barrel means more gas expands meaning more speed. But only so much liquid is in each shot so longer isn't always better. The pop you hear form a short barrel is from the gas expanding into the open air. The barrel confines the liquid and allows for channeled force but only to a point, this is when you start loosing speed and sound, which in a balanced you must overcome. You may have all kinds of fancy chambers for the liquid to expand but some always gets by. Now HPA is a whole different story and has a completely different affect, but I wont explain now.

Interesting though, I'll have to think about that myself. Sound like it makes sense. I still would buy an HPA tank though. Co2 Sucks!
