I just played speedball today for the first time since I was twelve, and I can certainly say it's a lot more fun when you actually know how to play. Unfortunatly, however, I was using a 98 with a sight and stock. I did pretty well, but the stock kept me from getting really tight on the bunkers, and made shooting lefty tricky.
Is there any good way to use a 98 on the speedball field? I'm getting a new gun sometime in the next month or two but until then what are some good techniques?

Take off the stock.

When I used to play with my 98, if i was playing speedball I would never have the stock on.

If you enjoy speedball though, I'd look into getting a cheap tourny gun.

Like D4rk said, Take the stock off. Use your tank in place of the stock. Don't use a drop forward for the 98. What are you looking at for a new gun?

I'm thinking about an AGD Tac-One, which is really set up like a speedball gun but is fully mechanical. I'm not getting and electro because I'll still be playing a lot of woodsball, and I don't want to deal with programming, batteries, and my different field's rules about ramping and stuff. Plus with the ULT you can walk the Tac-One as fast as you can pull the trigger (around 15 bps for me) so that should be good.

Yeah taking off the stock would be a good idea. I'll probably do that before I head over to the field next time.

Maybe you should use somebody elses spyder again and then use the 98 for woodsball. :D

Oh you were there? I never noticed the link to Yankee in your sig, so i didn't know you from around here.

Yeah the spyder was nice around the corners but the gun was just terrible :thanks: I got about 1 shot for every 2 trigger pulls and it shot about half as far as my 98.

I might head up to Yankee a week from Saturday, maybe I'll see you again

As others have said, lose the stock and put your tank on there.

Saw something about a Spyder. Use that for speedball and keep your 98 set up for woods.

Hehehe. I use a 98 with carbine style stock most of the time, even when playing speedball. Back in 2006 I played in a tournament using a 98 with stock mech trigger and carbine stock against the electros. My team got 2nd place overall. I also had more than a few positive comments about my marker and my play.

im planning on using my 98c for speedball too..yeah i know i aint gonna paint the field...

but swap out the endgame barrel to the stock (or empire twister i have), add the 48/4500 to it... and just use my pod pack... will see how that works out for me....

paintball is 80% player and 20% equipment. as for afew upgrades: madman center feed(requires drillling), electronic hopper, I've heard that the ebolt is the best e upgrade but egrip should work just as good. or just run bone stock. sounds crazy, but If you are a good player then likely you will enjoy shooting those electro players.
