I dont typically do this until my projects are done, but I felt that the community would like to see the progression of this project. Maybe you guys can help with some of the random problems I might encounter with this project.

I am going to be doing a M1 Carbine Classic Mag. The stock and hadguard shown are off my real M1 Carbine, so I will not be modding those, I have another M1 Carbine stock and hand guard coming in the mail. As you can see in the pictures, The stock will have to have some extensive internal modification to fit the Classic mag in all the way. The classic mag is going to have to sit down in the stock at LEAST another inch, if not more. That is so the handguard can sit flush with the stock.

Im also going to have to do some major modification to the trigger assembly.

Heres the initial pics:

nice idea....but that looks like an M-14 not an M1 Garand.
the M14 had the clip in the bottom, where the Garand had the "en-bloc" 8 round clip that was pushed in from the top with the bolt open.

anyway, keep going on it!!!! i want to turn one of my old piranhas into something like this. but i think i want to mod mine like the German Gewer 43.

It will look much better once everything gets seated and I have the proper barrel with the M1A1 front sight on it.

I would aprove of the above statement because I love the Garand... but the Carbine is better than the Garand in terms of caliber, loading mechanism (Garand was retarded... insert the rounds into chamber versus Carbine's mag) and the fact that it didnt do a clink everytime it ran outta bullets.

There are so many M1's to this day, I mean come one the M1A1 Abrams Tank!!! jesus christ leave the ones alone!!!!

Thats guys. I might eventually do a M1 Garand mag..but I gotta do one project at a time lol. This project is still in its beta stages..its going to look much better once I get the classic mag seated in properly and have the handguard attach like its supposed to.

Uh, no. The M14 is closer in design to the M1 Garand.

The first major thing im going to have to do is alot of milling/cutting into both the stock and the trigger assembly. The areas highlighted in red are definite spots that need cut (aside from most of the trigger assembly..because I didnt buy a full one, it wont come with the spring, sear..or anything like that)

The areas cut on the outside of the stock will be to accomdate the feedneck and air connection so the classic mag can fit all the way down into the stock.

That and the Carbine was a "pistol" caliber rifle, AND the M-14 was a 7.62 which was then converted to a smaller round just recently by Special Forces...hence the name SOCOM M-14.

Enahnder, I am truly jealous and can't wait to see the finished product.
