Okay, so I got a PM5 and want to make my jump from mechanical to electronic markers.

When I got the gun, it leaked air. There appeared to be two leaks, one out of a 90 degree fitting on the ASA and another from the bolt through the barrel.

I fixed the 90 degree fitting by replacing it.

I then replaced every o-ring on all 4 parts of the bolt.

Unfortunately, it is still massively leaking air out the front.

Any ideas?? Thanks.

Also, I'd like to replace the o-rings in the hyper and LPR but I can't figure out how to take them apart!!

Grease the bolt like crazy. Proto and Dye guns LOVE grease!

Trying airing it up and pulling off one shot and see if that seals the leak.

If not, maybe the solenoid is blown?

Oh...and reset the board to the factory settings, just to be safe.


Edit again: What model Hyper is it? You should be able to find it on the Dye website...

Edit again: What model Hyper is it? You should be able to find it on the Dye website...

Right now I can hear the "click" when I pull and hold the trigger for a second...so it seems that the trigger and electronics are working. But air just blows through the front of the bolt so it's "clicking" but not really "firing".

The dwell is at 13/18.

This thing leaks a LOT out the front. I'm not sure tweaking the dwell setting is going to do it. I'd give it a try, but I already emptied an air tank messing with it and emptied my last air tank today when the reg (air tank) blew.

I changed every o-ring on the bolt including the internal ones. I missed them the first time through, but ultimately found them and changed them.

Any other ideas?

Could it have something to do with the LPR or Hyper in-line? I can't access the LPR and I'm afraid to scratch the crud out of the in-line trying to get it apart. Has anyone else gotten into the LPR or in-line and can give me some pointers? Or is there nothing that can be accomplished by messing with those?

Well I have a PMR with the dwell setting on below the maximum, that is where it cycles the best. Dwell can mess up a lot of things!

Is it possible to sned in your gun to the manufacturer for service? Has anyone with a Matrix ever done this?

At this point, I don't think I'm going to be able to fix the leak myself and I'd like to get the gun operational 100% before I try to put in the Virtue board I have.

My guess is that it's a blown solenoid and you'll need a new one. I have a PM7 and it's very easy to replace and I doubt the PM5's are too much different.

Yes you can send it to dye and they can fix it. However if it's leaking out of the barrel than it can only be o-rings or your bolt isn't cycling properly.

For o-rings see the attachements. Are you using proper size o-rings and materials? This chart should be printed and kept with your kit.

Also set your lpr about 3.5 turns out. Set your dwell to about 20 ms and turn the hpr on. If the bolt isn't cycling well but the hpr is turned up enough then adjust the lpr.


I'm betting it's o-rings.

Where is a good place to order a new solenoid?

I'm going to try and put a new solenoid in it. If that doesn't work, I'll try to redo the o-rings again...maybe I put the wrong size in there somewhere.

Holy Gumby! A new solenoid is $80!?

When I turn the marker on and pull the trigger, it does "click". Doesn't that mean the solenoid is working? And let me know if $80 is standard for a solenoid. I might try to redo the o-rings first and then send it in if I can't stop the leak. I mean, if it's gonna cost me $80 for a new solenoid, maybe it's better to just have Dye put it in and make sure everything is set properly. Where can I go to get information on sending it to Dye?

My only concern with sending it in is that I have a Virtue board and I don't want to install the virtue board if I'm going to send the gun to Dye. On the other hand, if it's something wrong with the board, I'd hate to have them fix the board when I have a virtue board sitting here on my bookshelf. Any advice?
