It depends on the girl behind the look.

Goth or girl next door, there's no way in hell Rosie O'Donnell could make it look good.

The other side of the coin: Too much "goth" can make anyone look bad....

Megan Fox for example.

Did someone say goths? *drool*

If she's into black metal, it may be someone I could get along with.

I feel its more about the girl than what she likes to label herself. If she has a crappy personality i dont care how much black make up she wears shes going to suck. In fact i think id rather a girl not try to fit a stereotype and label herself as something and just be themselves. Dress the way you want whether its "girl next door" or "goth".

I did the whole i wanna be punk thing for a few years, had about 4 different piercings and wore ridiculous clothes and played in a band and stuff. It was cool but now i realize i wasnt really being myself. now i do still have my lip and tongue pierced and sure i still wear t shirts with bands on them and dr. martens but no more orange shorts with green spikey hair lol.

I guess what im trying to say is you can be the most beautiful girl in the world but if you constantly try to fit into a certain mold your not going to be a very attractive person. JMO

Those first two arent goth...

The first one is pin up more than anything...

I think a lot of people are shallow as hell. *shrug* Not dating a chick because she doesnt have J cups is just as bad as dating someone with piercings or tattoos. People just need to grow up. If you have personal preference, thats fine, but blanket statements like those are just plain ignorant.

They're close enough, I grabbed the first two i saw

I understand that personality matters... Im talking more about which one you'd find hotter if you'd never said a word to them and both people were 'attractive'.

Ive met awesome goth girls with a personality like Abby from NCIS, and ive met goths who are like 'i dress in black because my life is so terrible'... The latter is really annoying.

That said, I've also met girls who are girl-next-door and have terrible personalities, as well as really bubbly ones.

I think theres such a thing as too much goth, but that one or two goth pieces here and there is good... a corset with jeans is epic... a corset with arm thingies, floor length black skirt, blue and orange hair, too much makeup to tell if you were originally hot or not, and weird boots... not hot...

... a corset with arm thingies.........

First of all i loled at arm thingies. And i guess it would depend on a couple different things for me. If we're talking the same girl in two different styles of clothing then probably the one dressed in standard clothes would be more attractive for me.

Maybe i just like normal stuff lol but a nice, semi tight shirt and jeans beats the pants off of any goth attire i could think of. I mean sure some of it can show tons of skin but im not necessarily a huge fan of that all the time. sometimes its hot but most times i dig the girl next door look. Its nice to leave some to the imagination.

lol... sorry... mind blanked... you know what i mean though right?

Goth doesnt always show off lots of skin either... though yes usually it is more provacative. That said, when I was in catholic school, I was constantly amazed at the ways rich girls could find to make preppy clothes slutty

Abby from NCIS,

Those two arent even close to close enough. Lol. the first one is pinup. the second is rocker/biker. just because you have dark clothes on doesnt make you goth...

Like yousaid, Abby from NCIS is considered into the steroetype of goth.

A corset doesnt make you gothic.
Example:

Even that ^^ paired with jeans isnt gothic.

in the technical sense, corsets are considered goth. because they are from that time period. But in the sense you are talking pairing them with jeans doesnt fit.

being goth is a stereotype encompassing whiny, pissant teenagers craving attention. Usually identified by an immense use of black, vampires, blood, and anarchy symbols.

When its really a genre of music steming from punk rock and became popular in the mid 1980's... its also a reference to the middle ages, dark art, a style of architecture, or literature.

Go google images the word "gothic girl" i think you need some more stereotype appropriate pictures.

how is this provactative?

even this doesnt represent YOUR definition of goth... "a corset with arm thingies, floor length black skirt, blue and orange hair, too much makeup to tell if you were originally hot or not, and weird boots"

whats provacative or suggestive of a floor length skirt, blue hair and too much makeup?

lol... robin, wot???? Did you read? Why the random anger?

I said that it CAN be more provocative in nature. I also said earlier that it wasnt always, that was my point behind floor length (I was giving an example... there of course are many variations).

My only point was that some people seem to think goth is an excuse to be slutty... and that some goth stuff is by deffinition sexy (corsets designed to push up boobs and give you a small waist, the high heels, etc).

You can take any style you want and make it slutty, or make it very conservative. Some are just more condusive to 'revealing' than others. I dont see why you attacked me, instead of the person who originally said that all goth people wore slutty clothes... I was arguing against him.

And yeah, I posted of people who may not be 'truely' goth... I'm sooo sorry. Some people are more into it than others, and thats fine. I just grabbed pics I had laying around... it was just an afterthought

So, what you mean to say is people are being dumb and are grouping anyone who looks different as gothic although the "american" style gothic died out years ago, as well as emo.

So, people are being shallow and ignorant and youre arguing against people being shallow?

Robin thought you were being ignorant and it was a misunderstanding as to what the real argument was?

Ok. That sean settled so... back to the topic, people are shallow. yay or nay? Thats the thread right? lol
