So the lack of a fishing thread in this forum was disturbing me.

I have a feeling there aren't many avid fishermen like myself on the forums, but if there are.....POST.


What kind of fishing do you do? i.e fly fishing, river, lake, pond, whatever


Personally, I spend every moment of my free time on the riverbanks in southern West Virgina, from about March to October.

Trout are stocked from March to May, so that's usually where I start, from March to mid-April, when the bass start biting.

Small mouth bass, large mouth, red-eye, catfish, walleye, and even the occasional musky can be caught within an hour of my house, so I have it pretty good.

Any good stories?

haha, i hear that man. I generally fish live bait, but I'm like you, I can't sit and wait for something to happen. I keep my bait moving around a lot. The small mouth fishing here in southern WV is great, that usually my target fish when I go. But I'll take whatever is biting on most days.

I am one of those who just loves to fish. I don't really go after any one fish, but i actually attempt to catch every species fish that is of a decent size in the body of water i am present on. I have done this in both Lake Erie (discounting Sturgeon) and some canadian river thats name i can't remember. I find this really fun because it adds a lot of variety to the fishing experience

My family used to own a cabin on an excellent trout fishing lake. One morning my dad and I went out to troll with a variety of small spinners and spoons - caught a combined total of 22 trout in under two hours. We kept the three largest and let the rest go (well one didn't make it, so we actually kept four...).

My uncle also caught a ~30 inch rainbow just a few feet off our property. We had a little stream flowing into the lake that the trout loved to chill by and wait for food.


And no, the lake was never stocked or anything...

I do mainly freshwater fishing for bass, bluegill, smallmouth, white bass, etc.

I have one whole wall in my basement covered with rods/reels, and one whole corner of shelving full of lures and soft plastics!

I Love to trout fish its my passion I do it traditionally with a spin cast and with a fly rod I also like fishing native brooky streams here in the Wv Hit the Streams in the early morning dont come home til im happy with what I have caught or lessons i may have learned.

I am a casual fisher myself. There arent many good lakes to fish close by my house, so when I hit the lake, I usually head north into the country and spend a weekend or something fishing with my friends. For me, I love getting out of the city any chance I can, fishing is just a great excuse lol.

I am going Ice Fishing this Saturday at a charity tournament. So we will see how that goes.

I would also like to try out the Bow fishing and fly fishing. Unfortunately, I don't have access to the necessary gear, or even know where to go around here to give it a whirl.
