There are two groups into "zombie survival" scenarios.

Preppers and survivalists that use it as an analogy for the worst case scenario. If you're ready for the Zompocalypse, you're ready for anything.

Teens and young men whom are either gullible or use the idea as a tool of mental masturbation for their egos.

Just to add to that, the preppers/survivalists also use it as a worst case scenario because it's more politically correct/acceptable than others.

Very few care if you're out shooting zombies (the un-dead kind).

You do realize that Glocks in .40 S&W are the least reliable and most prone to failure, correct? The gun was designed around the 9mm, and a higher pressure round was dropped into the frame. Not a good combination, they are the most common Glock to experience reliability issues.

Second, because it's police issue? Do you expect the police to restock your ammunition? If so, I direct you to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The police seized weapons, not distributed ammunition. And worst comes to worst, if you find a (preferably dead) cop with some .40 on him, the pistol is likely still there too. Pick it up then.

1. I can confirm the Glock .40 S&W models as being most failure prone. I've seen them break at the range, more than once. Can't say the same for any other Glock (shameless plugs - or any XD or 1911 for that matter :P )

The Glock 17/19 is a far better choice as far as Glocks go.

2. This. Seriously re-evaluate after looking at Katrina. Any time you really need them, the police are not going to help, either because they are overwhelmed or because they're interested in "ensuring their safety" and think you are a threat with your gun.

it is not like they were confiscating guns from the people that use them for things other than crime.

what about revolvers? something un jammable, mehbeh 8 shots, quick reloading? decent caliber? main reason i say that is cause ive heard revolvers are alot tougher over their lifespan than semi automatics. personally i think a magazine loaded .22 semi auto rifle with a lazer, or a dot sight might be the best.

a pump .22 might be the best if you want decent rate of fire with durability. The old marlin semis can go through hell though.

a semi auto .22 would be a good chioce. low recoil, breaks into the skull cavity and bounces aroun (brain soup anybody?) and because of low recoil, you can acquire targets faster without looking away. or you could the the crank that attaches to the trigger guard...

New Orleans, or the outlying bayous?

And I hope you weren't serious, there are numerous accounts of NOPD seizing legally owned and held private arms from law abiding citizens forcefully at the end of police M4s.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha...

Good one!

Note the source.

Quote

P. Edwin Compass, the superintendent of police, said there are thousands of people remaining in the city but that authorities are determined to get everyone out. He said as little force as necessary would be used but that staying is not an option. Anyone with a weapon, even one legally registered, will have it confiscated, he said.

"No one will be able to be armed," Compass said. "Guns will be taken. Only law enforcement will be allowed to have guns."

new orleans area. kenner. recently moved to ponchatoula. and when i say area, i mean walking distance.

and maybe i needed a sorta dodgy. there were some guns confiscated, but many no longer functioned. friend who lived by the dome, he lost his .270. he said "Im kinda glad they took it, itl be cheaper to get a new one."

so, while my statement is flawed, its not entirely untrue. several others had fire arms that were not confiscated.

Thalion, I know that is what was said, but it's new orleans. nuff said.

On topic, itd be a bizzzznictch to survive the apocolypse in the city. glad i moved...

So, you're basically suggesting a high ranking member of your law enforcement is lying to the media, and not just lying, but doing so in a way that actually hurts their public image instead of helps it?

And just because they didn't get them all doesn't mean they tried or that your "several others" are typical. In fact, due to the very nature of government I would expect some to escape confiscation.

This IS on topic.

It's a discussion of likely government responses to the zombie outbreak, based solely on past experience with the government in disaster scenarios
